Yep. I'm still nattering on about @raconteur_press's latest anthology. This one's theme is basically kick-butt women of a certain age, which resonates with me somehow. Anyhoo...here's a kick-but trailer to wet your whistle if you're still waffling about picking up a copy.

Now watching the movie Apex on Netflix - mostly because it was filmed here where I live in The Blue Mountains.

Last week my 91 y/o dad suddenly decided to move from his apartment to a fully assisted studio (same facility). Today I scheduled a moving van rental for Monday to haul away the furniture that’s not going to fit. A few hours ago he was transported to the ER. "Mild heart attack" (probably). He’ll be there for a few days. Feels like he’s accelerating toward his final time on this plane. His twin brother is in bad shape. Their younger sister passed last summer. This may be the year.😬

All my writer friends (or anybody, really): if you’re planning a character who is grievously wounded and has to claw his way back to living life, get a copy of this. It’s a solid, actual (non-fic) “man vs. calamity/self” story. Takes courage to put it all out there.

@davefreersf @PeggiBosquez Very similar, here (west Puget Sound area). I know very few people with A/C other than in their car. We also heat with a big old wood stove. We’ve never turned on the central heating in this little house, so it’s probably full of dust bunnies.

@PeggiBosquez :-) I had to read this twice. I thought you were complaining it was cold. We only get about 2 hot days a year, so having a cold house isn't a blessing. (Americans find this strange, but we don't have A/C. Just a stonking big wood-heater.)

This is another TMI post.. our house is 2 stories and about 1540 sq ft. It was built around a single wide trailer that was yanked out. I like it.. it is quirky. I have moved around my whole life. This property is where I plan on staying. Anyway, as some of you know our HVAC took a big dump. We looked into many options. What we settled on is a mini split system. My hubby watched probably 1 million videos and utilized AI. He did all of it. For around 1500$ my house is cold. My power bill is 1/3 what it was. It's ok to just do things! Educate yourself and do bold things that people tell you won't work. We are a month in zero issues! O... the upstairs that we don't really use is hot as heck.. we can add a system up there if we need to. We use it as storage. So not a huge priority. Random Peg post.. 😆

A friend had an episode of this (2nd or 3rd season) running on her TV when I visited years ago. She gave me a quick synopsis and I sat down to take a look. I think I lasted 20 minutes? So. Much. Stupid. Oh, and the “brat who is always endangering himself and/or others” trope? I HATE IT. Looking at you Jurassic Park (novel) and Earth 2 (sci-fi channel series).

This never impressed me. Coming up with an idea isn’t the hard part. Everyone has ideas. Turning it into something great is the hard part. They did do that and that did impress me.

I recorded one of my Psalm arrangements into AI to make it sound like it was being played in a church worship service. It was amazingly realistic. The congregation even clapped on 1 and 3.

Evangelicals really had dudes singing “there’s nowhere I’d rather be when you’re singing over me” to Jesus Then acted shocked when an entire generation of men checked out of church.
