My first impressions of #DeathStranding2PC are very positive, the game looks stunning and runs well overall and so far zero shader compilation stutters or traversal hitches.
The graphics settings are more streamlined than typical Nixxes ports but they scale well performance-wise.

Literally any tool can be used to make something better with the same amount of work or to make something similar with less work. Should we get rid of all tools because some people use them to be lazier instead of better? Of course not. It doesn't matter if dlss is used to be lazy or to make better games, it's good for games. Lazy devs have cheaper and faster development times or dedicated devs can use it to improve their games. Both are good.

There is nothing lazier than an AI model doing this much for the entire image as a shortcut

What part of the developers can choose when and how to implement dlss do you not understand? They get to choose wether dlss is used in their game and how it's used. DLSS doesn't change materials. It changes lighting and the devs can choose wether or not to use it. Your argument that it's changed their vision is completely invalid when they developers are the ones that put the dlss integration into the games.

@LongShot389931 @Infamous_Squire @Rageoverrun @wccftech They can only set a few lighting parameters for an AI model to then go inbetween the frame reconstruct and then interpret using its data set to provide an image over the top. Also how would they do this for the entire game, evevry single material in the game?

How does dlss make it so less people own hardware? You cant use DLSS unless own an Nvidia graphics card. It gives people more reasons to buy hardware, not less.
To say it ruins the original intention of the game is nonsense. The game devs are the ones that put dlss integration. They have full control over when, how, and if dlss is used. It's a tool they can use to shape to game to their original intention.
Even though it's not, let's pretend dlss is applied after the game development without the developers consent. Who fucking cares? You bought the game and get to enjoy it however to want. Modding a game doesnt align with the developers original intent for the game. Does the mean no one should mode the game how they choose? Are people not allowed to do what they want to a game they purchased?

The AI is quite literally breaking down and reconstructing then interpreting within a frame based on a general data set NOT trained on the game aesthetic or assets. Thats why it changed Grace into a model lit by studio light

No one wants reality captured exactly as reality is, its about the artistic intention behind the manipulation of reality's elements to make an image.

With starfield they were very clearly going for photorealism, but the game ended up looking the way it does because their engine is outdated and cannot handle better visuals
