Approaching the 1.5-year mark since Canto's mainnet launch without any hacks or vulnerabilities, I reflect on my journey contributing to this grassroots project. In a unique experience, devoid of VC funding and launched during a bear market, the challenges of a grassroots chain were evident – limited resources, scaling constraints, and building a community from scratch. Canto's success lies in a product-first mindset, prioritizing real products to find Product-Market Fit (PMF) and nurturing a culture of growth. In 2023, contributors achieved notable milestones such as Contract-Secured Revenue (CSR), yield-bearing Units of Accounts (UoAs), Real World Assets (RWAs), and monthly hackathons. Early successes were evident: RWAs: Canto ranks as the #3 chain by RWA issuance for treasuries. Hackathons: @CadenceProtocol , a hackathon grand prize winner, successfully launched with a Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool (LBP) and is set for launch on Feb 27th. CSR: Despite initial resistance, CSR adoption is growing across ecosystems like Optimism, Ethereum, Blast, and more. As Canto evolves from an "experimental" to a "growth" chain in 2024, key anticipations include: 💾 Tech Innovation: The upcoming #Callisto upgrade makes Canto the first Cosmos-compatible chain to implement v0.50, achieving sub-second block times alongside ongoing research around improved full nodes, , , and ZK bridging. 🔢 Neofinance (RWAfi) and Tooling: With four live issuers, Note aims to be fully backed by regulated T-bill issuers. Tooling like asD enhances dApps' capabilities to direct native yield and manage protocol treasuries. 🌊 Liquidity Coordinator: Extending L1 emissions beyond CantoDex, akin to NeoFinance, allowing whitelisted protocols to bid for emissions. 👨‍💻 Boosting Hackathons and DevRel: Building on the learnings of 2023, especially the success story of Cadence, to amplify and scale strategies for this year's hackathon initiatives. 🎵 Music+: No one knows what it is, but it's provocative. Stay tuned, as successful execution could unleash a cataclysm of reactions from skeptics. In summary, 2023 was an exhilarating journey marked by achievements, community growth, and personal development. Energized and motivated, 2024 heralds the growth phase in Canto's story. Strap in. 🔮
