@JBishie I don't think Microsoft is constrained, or should be. I think the media and rage-bait culture in console discourse will set a tone for whatever approach they decide to take. So, whatever the decisions are, having strategy to combat THOSE factors will be just as important IMO

The lead platform can still differentiate through advantages that aren’t tied to raw performance. System‑level features, next‑gen controller capabilities, deeper mod integration, or platform‑specific content all contribute to making them the best place to play. Hardware capability is only one part of the equation. I genuinely don’t understand this idea that Microsoft is somehow constrained, unable to compete, or required to build everything around PlayStation.

My suggestion: Lead with cloud, PC and Xbox, then expand to other platforms after a variable timed window. This isn’t about forcing hardware adoption. It’s about restoring Xbox as the first and best place to play, and showing existing users that they matter. Cloud, PC and Xbox provide more than enough commercial headroom. PlayStation isn’t the only route to scale, and day one parity doesn’t guarantee success. This is a generational reset. Take ownership of the messaging.

@JBishie @NerdPropellant My thoughts are this. Either the game has to be big enough to warrant an exclusive, or there isn't enough time to port to Playstation without greatly delaying the game. Otherwise keep it all multi-plat and maximize revenues.

@geis_shane @JBishie JB and I have some points of disagreement, but JB *isn't* discussing timed-exclusives as a means to gain market share It's more about messaging and investment that reinforces for those currently in the Xbox hardware ecosystem to remain in it and build back that identity

@NeonBirdGames @JBishie No one is going to buy a Xbox for a timed exclusive…xbox had real exclusivity for 23 years and no one cared. If a game doesn’t release on a persons platform then it doesn’t exist This will just hurt game sales and it still won’t be good enough for people whining about exclusives

@JBishie Fair, I'm more concerned about the scenario where hardware is largely going to produce similar results (as in base PS5/Series X) where advantage isn't so clear, and when minute differences exist in edge-case scenarios, is still enough for the "better on PS5" messaging to spread

@JBishie Are you suggesting Xbox should purposefully withhold optimizations/features from the later multiplat release then? If Helix is unquestionably more powerful than PS6, performance/fidelity might take care of itself in that regard, but if they're roughly equivalent?

All of these "Bethesda should do better" people need to realize Bethesda gives us worlds to live in, not games to play.
