@moldenjoyor Beyond not spiraling your project into incompletion, another benefit of seriously questioning the extent of your ideas is avoiding the finality where the ONLY engaging part is the framework. I think primarily of Shadows of Doubt. Annoyed I sincerely entertained that game.

The muddy idea I have so far is of something with systems inspired by Kenshi or Underrail but I have no clue what setting or story I want to go with yet

There are maybe like 4 indie game developers that are actually making anything at any given time
The rest of them are waiting for a "big hit" to get popular among streamers so they can ape it for five years
Some get antsy and ape existing IPs though and make bargain bin clones

@moldenjoyor In that nature you can maybe incidentally make something with more conceptual backbone than a lot of these "creative" projects—granted you don't find dogshit fun playing; you still need intent. My main issue with indie games, even "good" ones, is the crippling lack of cohesion.

@RegressiveBard Moreover, they had to change the logos present, to varying degrees of success. On a few frames they forgot to change it at all. This is the funniest thing that's ever happened for me on a movie night. We must've rewound six times at every occurrence.

@RegressiveBard When I streamed this movie to my friends, we were all absolutely manic because I had ended up with the European version that changes every mention of "Taco Bell" to "Pizza Hut," while still having the US version's subtitles. They also awkwardly dubbed it over super obviously.
