@l_masu Hi. I'm writing a feature for Nature about the funding of science by philanthropic organisations. Might you be willing to answer a couple of questions about your Wellcome Early Career Award? If so, what's the best way for me to contact you with more details please?

@barabasi Hi. Any chance of an interview about your research on philanthropic support for science for a piece I’m writing for Nature?

Placebo effects are NOT about expectation, or positive thinking, and you don’t have to believe you’re taking a real drug to feel better, says Harvard’s Ted Kaptchuk. I spoke to him about why placebos really work, and how to unlock our inner pharmacy shows.acast.com/where-the-wild…

Ultra-processed foods have been linked to obesity and other health troubles, but is the grouping to broad to guide dietary choices? go.nature.com/4g1TUL6

Getting protein from grass, making it with GM yeast, automated high-throughput crop breeding, boosting crop yields with probiotics and acoustic precision pollination. Five of many sustainable food innovations presented at @fa_next. My piece in @Nature nature.com/articles/d4158…

@PaulStamets Not sure the study confirms anything about Lion’s Mane. The benefits could have come from the switch to a vegan diet, the 30 mins cardio exercise daily, strength trading, mental health support, yoga or meditation.

A new clinical trial published in PNAS, shows that comprehensive lifestyle changes including diet, movement, stress reduction, and adding Lion’s Mane mushroom mycelium can lead to improvements in brain function for people with early-stage Alzheimer’s. In a randomized clinical trial published in Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy, researchers found that comprehensive lifestyle changes including introducing 4 daily capsules of Lion’s Mane mushroom mycelium led to significant improvements in cognitive function and memory in people with mild Alzheimer’s. This is a promising development in the field of functional medicine and neuroregeneration. It confirms that mushrooms like Lion’s Mane support brain health in profound ways and work best when paired with whole-body wellness. A farewell to Scottish winter? If that's a wrap, then what a way to go. In Glencoe chasing sunrise, snow and the sublime.

A stunning day for a traverse of the Aonach Eagach along Glencoe's hearty skyline with views to the sea lochs, islands and Ben Nevis himself, covered in snow. When Scotland is on form, there's no place like it.

I've been to Glen Affric hundreds of times in the past 45 years, but being there today really took my breath away. There was a remarkably thick hoar frost coating all the vegetation, especially the birch trees, and it transformed the whole area into a fabulous frozen forest.
