@tako_ro Vgen drives traffic and leads to artists that the artist wouldn't otherwise get. Paying a 5% transaction fee for lead discovery is a bargain.

Actually surprised that a lot of people don't know about this. Yup, platforms do take a cut because surprise running a platform isn't a charity. "Free" platforms will always have a catch.

Artists can literally make art with anything. AI bros wouldn’t be able to “create” anything without stealing from others. I can use my fingers to draw a picture in the dirt if all the tools we used went away, could you say the same?

@Awkquido I can't speak for everybody but use-case is a major factor for me. For example: Dye sublimation? Just hit the image size target and use the right colorspace. Direct to film transfers? No sharp free standing points at all because they don't peel consistently.

Sometimes I get asked for corrections on an art piece. Then I see the same corrections aren't on their other commissioned pieces. Is this because the artists decline to change them or? Should I be more picky when it comes to allowing corrections? Something I've pondered.

So apparently in the Super Taikyu race earlier today the Spoon Civic narrowly took the ST-2 class win while actively on fire:

I also hope that Cinderella Gray can have a positive impact on horse racing in North America. As a fan myself, I carry deep respect and gratitude for its history. After all, without the legendary Native Dancer, neither Oguri Cap nor modern global horse racing would exist as we know it. At the same time, through my research for this, I came to understand that since the late 1980s—following tax reforms in the United States—the scale of Thoroughbred breeding there has continued to decline. Behind this, I believe, are shifts in perspectives on animal welfare, as well as broader changes in equestrian culture over that period. It is my sincere hope that Cinderella Gray will draw as many people in North America as possible toward horse racing. Because it is, without question, something truly remarkable— a meaningful part of our culture.

I have nothing but the respect for Director Miura-san. Having developed as a producer on anime Uma Season 1, I know how much sheer effort it takes to bring a series centered on “running” to life. To see it realized across two seasons is an extraordinary achievement. My deepest respect goes to Director Miura-san and everyone at Cygames Pictures who worked on this production. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart🫶🫶

@C90SF0Z Look at it like a lead discovery fee. You're paying for traffic and leads you wouldn't otherwise get. For example: I didn't know who Kota was until I saw his art on Vgen.

@bermuda_muda I feel like they make the fees steep because they know artists are going to move their clients off Vgen as soon as they can.

@bermuda_muda @Fleesveon555 I'm kinda surprised they don't have per transaction fee caps. That's pretty standard on other marketplaces (and vgen is a marketplace). We hit Ebay's per transaction cap at my day job on a regular basis.

@ANAFFY_ You can sell the leftover stock at cons over time and get your money back out of them. I could see those selling well at my local cons in Texas.

@NoSleepMerch @KainYusanagi As an artist those things are terrible to work with They don't actually have that big of a range of motion bc their pelvises usually get in the way and aren't squishy like real humans Sure it takes longer, but I rlly prefer just using this site. app.justsketch.me

I got sent an AI generated reference for an existing IP character that I wasn't familiar with, and I built the entire drawing off it. Wrong accessories. wrong colors. clothes flipped to the wrong side. I felt like I lost a few years of my doing revisions to fix my drawing if you're able to find non-gen ai references, I would prefer it so much more. AI is always inaccurate and can never properly work as a reference. the internet is so flooded now, and genAI is so evolved, it’s honestly hard to tell what’s real and what isn’t anymore so I get that too. At the end of the day, there's a lot of nuances that determine whether or not a gen-ai reference is okay and that also depends on the artist. if you're unsure, it's always safe to ask the artist first
Miilfy 🌌🥛 ♡@Miilfywayz

Do you think it's wrong to use ai to show an artist a reference for something that you want to commission them and pay them for? I generally am curious of this. example- I want this type of pose but I can only find anime ai art for ref.. Is it wrong to use that as ref ??

@Miilfywayz If we're talking about posing, buy a manikin. These little wooden dudes are cheap and they're the king of pose references. Posing one of these guys is faster than searching for images or using an AI model.

@KainYusanagi @x_ark_kresyx You get better control and the dolls will keep you anatomically correct. It's also just faster to default to the dolls. It takes me 2 minutes to pose and photo AI models don't really grok anatomy. They understand how things look but they don't know why they look the way they do

@NoSleepMerch @x_ark_kresyx If you're consisently commissioning and they're all somehow unique poses, sure, maybe (or learn to manipulate a free 3D model of one). Not worth it for a one-off. Even then, if a free tool can make the pose, why spend $ unnecessarily? that's just being anti-AI to be anti-AI.
