@wolicyponk It's pretty funny to see people talk about that one because they either nervously pussyfoot around it or they just say stuff like that. It might be my favourite contemporary anime series? It's like someone animated one of Angela Carter's Fireworks-era Sadeian fairytale riffs.

@regularaugust Although I suspect that the trend was already moving in that direction—the recuperation of things like shipping and fanfic reflexivity in mass media began far earlier and was perhaps an ill omen—I do think it accelerated the process in the Anglosphere in terrible ways.

One thing I think about a lot is how Rev and other grifter types tend to fade out into obscurity, but people like ProZD tend to last. Do you guys remember all the other grifters I’d fight with in the 2010s? Pretty much all of them bottomed out in the end
