As of about 40 minutes ago Business Day has published an explanation in which they said they have since established that the quoted figure was not released by the IMF. The question remains why they didn’t do this *before*? Why are they publishing unverified op-eds?

Business Day has now also deleted the “according to the letter writer” tweet with no explanation. I wonder what could be so important about this obvious propaganda piece that they’re willing to risk it all for it.
