Tribute to Henry Nwosu In the 1980s, I used to trek nearly five kilometres every day from Mushin to Yaba College of Technology just to watch Henry Nwosu train with ACB Lagos. Watching him play was always worth the journey; his skill, composure, and passion for the game inspired many of us who loved Nigerian football. Two years ago, I had the privilege of meeting the legend at the final of the Ex-International Tournament in Lagos. It was a special moment to finally meet someone whose brilliance on the field had shaped so many memories. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and the entire Nigerian football community. Rest in peace, Henry. Your legacy will forever live on in the hearts of football lovers. ⚽🕊️ @BukolaOlopadee @EmekaOkoye @Igbajoutdfc @israel_ajoje @jamesagada @MuftauAdewale3 @ELEGBETE1SPORTS @OsunFa @thenff

*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE* *Osun FA Restructures SmartCity State League Into Elite 12-Team Roster* The Executive Board of the Osun State Football Association (Osun FA) has officially approved a transformative restructuring of the SmartCity Osun State Football League. The league will transition into a professionally managed, 12-team elite roster designed to serve as a high-performance player development hub and a global marketing platform. This strategic move positions Osun State as a premier talent pipeline for both regional and international football markets. While the league has successfully expanded grassroots engagement, this restructuring addresses critical gaps in international visibility, commercial scalability, and professional governance. The shift to a streamlined 12-team format ensures a higher quality of competition, making the league a "must-watch" for broadcasters, premium corporate sponsors, and international scouts. The 12 licensed clubs will compete in a double round-robin format, totaling 22 matches per team over a concentrated 3–5 month competitive season. The league will be managed by an independent Board, including a COO, Technical Director, and Marketing Director, operating under strict club licensing and anti-corruption regulations. The introduction of a centralized player database and performance analytics will provide global scouts with real-time, data-backed access to Osun’s best talent. The deployment of live streaming, OTT distribution, and digital highlight packages specifically designed to engage the Osun Diaspora and football enthusiasts worldwide. The league is built on a sustainable revenue model comprising title sponsorships, broadcasting rights, kit partnerships, and player transfer commissions. Beyond the pitch, this initiative is projected to stimulate the local economy through job creation in sports management, digital media, and hospitality, while fostering community cohesion and youth empowerment. “This 12-team league is more than a tournament; it is a strategic investment in the youth and economic future of Osun State,” said Mayor Sola Fanawopo, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Osun FA. “We invite private investors, corporate partners, and the global Osun community to join us in building a model for sub-national football development in West Africa.” To ensure institutional integrity, the league will undergo annual independent audits. The Osun FA will publish comprehensive performance reports covering viewership growth, sponsorship valuation, and international transfer milestones. @OsunFa @AfricaSoccer_zn @israel_ajoje @eurofootcom @MuftauAdewale3

Thread 1 Osun FA Women’s Football League: Shaping the Future of Nigerian Women’s Football The second edition of the Osun State FA Women’s Football League is officially set to kick off in the second or third quarter of 2026, and expectations are already soaring. Following the overwhelming success of its maiden edition, the league returns with renewed energy, stronger structure, and greater ambition. What started as a bold initiative to provide a competitive platform for young female footballers in Osun State has quickly evolved into one of the most impactful grassroots women’s football projects in Nigeria. The inaugural edition delivered high-intensity matches, passionate fan engagement, and, most importantly, a clear pathway for player development. In a gripping final, Igbajo United Ladies edged Segun Akeju Babes 1–0 to claim the first-ever title, writing their names into the competition’s history. Beyond the trophy celebration, the true victory of the league was the emergence of exceptional talents. Several players have since secured moves to clubs in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, proving that the competition is not just about participation, but progression. With scouts, stakeholders, and football enthusiasts closely monitoring its growth, the second edition promises: Increased competitiveness among teams Improved organization and match-day experience Greater scouting presence from elite clubs Expanded opportunities for young girls across Osun State The second edition kickoff signals more than the start of another tournament, it represents the continuation of a movement dedicated to empowering the girl-child through football and creating sustainable professional pathways. @AfricaSoccer_zn @eurofootcom @Igbajoutdfc @israel_ajoje @OsunFa @MuftauAdewale3

Thread 2 Osun FA Women’s Football League: Shaping the Future of Nigerian Women’s Football Breakout Stars from the Maiden Edition Kazeem Naimot (formally of Segun Akeju Babes....now Osun Babes) She is one of the biggest revelations of the maiden edition, Naimot starred throughout the tournament despite her team’s narrow final defeat. Her brilliance earned her a move to Osun Babes, where she has impressed in the Premiership. She scored the lone goal in an away win over Confluence Queens and earned Performer of the Week and Team of the Week recognition. Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s emerging prospects, Naimot continues to rise. @israel_ajoje @MuftauAdewale3 @AfricaSoccer_zn @Igbajoutdfc @OsunFa

Thread 3 Osun FA Women’s Football League: Shaping the Future of Nigerian Women’s Football Breakout Stars from the Maiden Edition...Girls to Ladies... Wuraola Olayiwola, (Formally of Igbajo United Ladies...now → Bayelsa Queens) At just 15, Wuraola’s rise has been phenomenal. Her move to reigning champions Bayelsa Queens marked a major milestone. The diminutive midfielder dazzled with balance, creativity, and confidence, drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi. Her maturity and technical quality point to a bright future. @Igbajoutdfc @israel_ajoje @MuftauAdewale3 @OsunFa @Bayelsaqueensfc
