This morning, I took an oath of office as the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa sworn in by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo in Cape Town.

Tomorrow, I will participate in the Alex 10K race in the Alexandra Township, Gauteng Province. The Alex 10K race entered its second year in 2025, following Adreach Group's three-year partnership with Run Alex Athletics Club. This collaboration is aimed not only to revive road running events in Alexandra but to promote local tourism under the theme "Explore Alex on Foot." The purpose for the race is to fund grassroots operations for the Run Alex Athletics Club and support the Read Alex Project, a Saturday programme aimed at improving literacy and educational outcomes for local children. #Alex10K #ExploreAlexOnFoot #RunAlex10K #PaulMashatile

In my capacity as a Special Envoy to South Sudan, this morning, I held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, His Excellency, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit in Pretoria, Gauteng Province. President Salva Kiir Mayardit is on a Working Visit to South Africa and yesterday paid a courtesy call on President Cyril Ramaphosa at his Official Residence Mahlamba Ndlopfu in Pretoria. Apart from discussing the bilateral relations between South Africa and South Sudan, the bilateral meeting enabled us to discuss the latest developments regarding the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) as well as exchange views on developments regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan. #SouthSudanInSA #PeaceInAfrica #PaulMashatile

As Government we are rolling out technical training programmes through TVET colleges and universities, directly linked to beneficiation industries. These include mining engineering diplomas, beneficiation academies, and professional certificates in mineral beneficiation, all designed to link directly to the country’s industrialisation agenda. Metropolitan Municipalities are now developing water and sanitation turnaround strategies, as part of the Reform of Metropolitan Trading Services Programme which will be implemented by National Treasury. One of the key reforms of this programme is to develop water and sanitation turnaround strategies, focusing on ringfencing revenue from the sale of water, specifically for the water function. The implementation of these reforms seeks to stabilise and strengthen the delivery of core basic services in Metropolitan Municipalities and set foundations for increased investment and economic growth in South Africa’s eight largest cities. #MashatileQandA #MashatileNA #PaulMashatile
