As Islamabad Talks begin, the Prime Minister of Pakistan H.E Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has met the US & Iran delegations today. Hopes were expressed that constructive engagement will pave the way for lasting regional peace. Pakistan committed to facilitating continued progress as a mediator, to help build momentum toward achieving meaningful results in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.

Islamabad April 11 ,2026. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the Iranian delegation at the Islamabad Talks today. The Iranian side was led by the Honorable Speaker of the Iranian Consultative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, assisted by Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Abbas Araghchi. Appreciating Iran’s engagement in the Islamabad Talks, the Prime Minister affirmed Pakistan’s sincere resolve to continue playing its role as a mediator to help build momentum towards achieving meaningful results in the interest of regional and global peace and stability. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshall Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi attended the meeting from Pakistani side.

Islamabad April 11 ,2026 As the Islamabad Talks commenced today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with His Excellency JD Vance, Vice President of the United States of America. The U.S. Vice President was assisted by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner. The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Sen. Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. Commending the commitment of both delegations to engage constructively, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that these talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region. The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan looks forward to continue its facilitation of both sides in making progress towards sustainable peace in the region.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During their warm and cordial conversation, His Highness congratulated the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s successful diplomatic efforts, which led to the Iran-U.S. ceasefire as well as negotiations between the two sides in Islamabad. While thanking His Highness the Amir for his appreciation of Pakistan’s sincere and genuine mediation efforts, the Prime Minister lauded the wisdom and sagacity of the Qatari leadership, which has exhibited exemplary restraint despite facing continuous attacks over the past six weeks. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, this evening. During their most warm and cordial conversation, His Highness congratulated the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s successful diplomatic efforts that have led to the Iran-U.S. ceasefire, as well as negotiations between the two sides, in Islamabad. While thanking His Highness the Amir for his appreciation of Pakistan’s sincere and genuine mediation efforts, the Prime Minister lauded the wisdom and sagacity of the Qatari leadership, that has exhibited exemplary restraint, despite facing continuous attacks over the past six weeks. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar and assured the Amir that both countries would always stand shoulder to shoulder, through thick and thin. I had a warm and substantive conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, this afternoon. I conveyed my deep appreciation for the wisdom and sagacity of the Iranian leadership in accepting Pakistan’s offer to host peace talks in Islamabad later this week to work jointly for the return of peace to the region. President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s participation in the upcoming negotiations and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts, while conveying his best wishes for the people of Pakistan.
