Thanks for the attention, Mike. But you're mischaracterizing our position. No one wants to “kill neighborhood schools.” We all shop at the neighborhood grocery store. We send our kids to the childcare center down the street. We utilize the local post office. We do all of the above without empowering the government to draw maps that keep our neighbors out. Our suggested reforms are explicitly designed to protect the neighborhood character of the public schools. @Dyrnwyn @AdamPeshek @timderoche

Hey peeps, anyone wanna defend neighborhood public schools and school boundaries?

EXCLUSIVE @NRO: Elizabeth Mirabelli & Lori West, the teachers that led our Supreme Court case—Mirabelli v. Bonta—against California's secret gender transition policies, tell their story: California Told Us to Deceive Parents, but We Said No nationalreview.com/2026/03/califo…

Hello @Scott_Wiener. We represent a family in Mirabelli v. Bonta whose daughter's school secretly transitioned her in 7th grade. New name, new pronouns, all hidden from Mom and Dad—even in parent-teacher conferences. She attempted suicide. Hospitalized twice. The parents learned about her gender dysphoria from a doctor after her suicide attempt, not from the school. SECRECY threatens the lives of kids, not the other way around. That's the reality.

Senator Scott Wiener@Scott_Wiener

Forcing teachers to out LGBTQ students to their parents puts kids’ lives at risk. Some will die. Some will get kicked out & become homeless. Some will be sent to conversion therapy. The choice to come out to one’s parents belongs only to the kid & is no one else’s damn business.

At @HHSGov, we will not stand for states removing children from their families and transitioning them to a new gender against the parents’ will. Along with @ADM_Christine, we will keep families together whenever it is safe to do so. This week, we notified all 50 states that exercising sincerely held religious beliefs should not constitute child abuse or neglect under federal law.

Meet Elizabeth Mirabelli & Lori West, the two award-winning teachers at the center of it all. These women are faithful Christians with decades in the classroom. They love their students and want to collaborate with parents to help their kids thrive. But California forced them to lie to parents, concealing a child's gender transition and reverting to birth names only when parents called. They refused to be instruments of deception. So, we helped them fight back in court. And now the Supreme Court has restored protections for parents—vindicating their fight.

"Congratulations to @PaulJonna and @ThomasMoreSoc on their landmark SCOTUS win. This is a major victory for California parents and their constitutional right to be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives." — Emily Rae, President, California Justice Center

🚨 BREAKING: The Supreme Court just handed a historic victory to parents over California's secret gender transition policies today, ruling 6-2 in our case Mirabelli v. Bonta. DECISION AND REACTIONS: thomasmoresociety.org/news/u-s-supre… California required schools to secretly facilitate children's gender transitions without telling parents. Teachers were forced to use different names and pronouns behind parents' backs. One family only found out their daughter had been transitioning at school after she attempted suicide. Today the Court said: enough. The justices found that California's secrecy regime likely violates both the First Amendment and the Fourteenth Amendment's protection of parental rights. The Court held that California "cut out the primary protectors of children's best interests: their parents." What makes this decision groundbreaking: the Court reaffirmed that parents—not the state—have the constitutional right to direct the upbringing of their children and to participate in decisions about their children's mental health. Even Justice Kagan in dissent said she has "no doubt" parents have these rights and that California "could have crossed the constitutional line." The class-wide injunction blocking California's policies is back in effect for a statewide class of parents. This is a historic just a win for parents and a precedent that puts every secret gender transition policy in America on notice. @PaulJonna @peterbreen

There are a lot of amazing people who have done the hard work, been through hell and continue to put in amazing effort day-in-and-day-out. It's not discounting their efforts to recognize that Erin's grit, legal savvy and incredible integrity saved more lives than we'll ever know. I can confidently say that @ErinFriday75490 is the most consequential advocate for children in America over the last 3 years. With the caliber of people steadfastly fighting the moral stain of the 21st century's lobotomies, forced sterilization, mutiliation and mass hysteria, that's a really high bar, but she clears it. I am proud to call her friend.

“You either need to transition your child or you don’t get to keep your child.” Attorney Erin Friday says California Child Protective Services can threaten parents who refuse to use their child’s preferred pronouns. She told me she feared calling the police when her 13 year old daughter ran away because she worried CPS would take her child. “My daughter, who was 13 years old, just starting high school, was secretly socially transitioned at school.” “The school started to call my daughter by a male name, use male pronouns.” “When I called the school and told them to stop, that next week Child Protective Services was at my door.” “The next day, the police.” “That was an immediate alert to me that the school wants to parent my child.” “If I didn’t follow and call my daughter a boy, Child Protective Services may come and take my child away.” “Parents in Southern California had lost custody of their children because they wouldn’t transition their daughter.” “I already had a black mark, and a few months later my daughter ran away.” “The normal thing for a parent to do is to ask law enforcement to help find your child… but I couldn’t make that phone call.” “Because Child Protective Services can swoop in anytime and take my child.” “It’s coercion at its highest level.” “You don’t get to parent your child.” “This is America. This is insane.” @erinfriday75490

I appreciate this very thorough @CalMatters piece on the harm teachers' unions are doing to our children. @carolynjones100 quoted me well and accurately on my opinion about teachers' unions: they must be abolished if we want public schools to survive. And if you're a teacher held hostage by your union - LEAVE NOW.

There are enough people who don't understand what "community" schools are or how bad they've become. @kellyske is one of my go-to people on this issue. Please read her important thread below.
