Here’s your fifth challenge for #OceanConservancyChallenge, Peakers: Buy in bulk and bring the bag! 🙌🎒🛍️ Fact: Plastic bags are one of the top items in Ocean Conservancy’s threat rank report from 2015. In this report, plastic debris items were ranked based upon their quantified impact to marine 🐬species. Bags were rated as one of the top items with greatest ingestion risk for seabirds, turtles🐢 and marine mammals, and as one of the biggest entanglement threats to marine fauna. Tip: Fill reusable containers with bulk items like rice, coffee, or nuts at your local grocery🍎 store. In a 2015 study co-authored by @OurOcean, cutlery was rated as one of the top two items with the greatest ingestion risk for seabirds, turtles🐢, and marine mammals. Tip: When ordering food🥡 for delivery, skip the plastic utensils or chopsticks and use what you have at home. Grabbing food on the go or traveling?
