The most pervasive and most nefarious false claim against Israel is the claim that Israel committed genocide in Gaza. When we talk about scrutinizing credibility, we tell jurors, "If a party has lied to you once before, you can use that in adjudging their credibility here." The Palestinians and their supporters have claimed that there has been not just a genocide after October 7th, but that there have been five genocides over the course of the last 20 years since the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. This despite the fact that Gaza's population of Palestinians has doubled in that same timeframe. Let's look at real genocides in history. The Holocaust, for example, 18 million Jews before the Holocaust, six years later, 12 million Jews in the world. There's a delta there. That's six million Jews gone in six years. That's what real genocides look like. The law defines it as, "An attempt to eradicate an entire people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, or religion." Israel was fighting a war it didn't want, a war it hadn't started, against an enemy that purposely embedded itself within and underneath civilian architecture precisely because its entire war strategy was to increase, rather than decrease, the number of Palestinian casualties. They did this with the goal of getting the world to force Israel to stop so that they could survive another day to fulfill their ultimate jihadist mission which is to destroy the State of Israel and kill every last Jew.

What’s our plan to stop Hezbollah? How will we disarm Hezbollah, now that we have taken on this responsibility?  How will we prevent Hezbollah from regenerating and reconstituting its forces?  The Lebanese government has neither the will nor the way or they’d have done it in last year’s ceasefire that Hezbollah violated. I expect Hezbollah will see its tactics, of using buildings to organize, store weapons, and fire rockets , as successful and will do more of it given the declaration. And it will conclude that Israel can’t do anything about it as this declaration actually protects Hezbollah . So, we shall see. Israel has degraded Hezbollah without much help from anyone else.  They took out its leadership. They lost soldiers. They’ve relocated 1 million or so of its citizens because Hezbollah fires thousands of rockets into their towns. I doubt Israel thought it would be prevented by us from eliminating Hezbollah given everything our two armed forces have accomplished together as the closest of allies.  Iran wanted Hezbollah to survive. So, now it has.  And it’s on us to deal with it if Israel does not.

I voted to extend TPS for Haitians because I cannot, in good conscience, send people who were lawfully granted protection here, followed our laws, and built lives under our rules back to rape, murder, and chaos in a lawless Haiti. This is completely separate from amnesty or illegal immigration. Conflating the two is dangerous.
