I think we're likely to end up somewhere near the circle, with Labour still the largest party but no longer with an overall majority - and any two of Labour, Greens and Lib Dems able to form a ruling coalition.

Only 15 of the 42 city council seats are up for election in May. The Lib Dems would now need to win every single one to win overall control - which certainly won't happen - but the Greens still can't quite get to half the seats either.

Here's a diagram of possible @camcitco election outcomes. 15 of the 42 seats are up (incl. a by-election); each hexagon represents a different possible split between Lab, Green and LD. The star is where we are now; Lab->LD gains move it east, Lab->Green gains move it northeast.

.@CambridgeGreens have lost no time in adding their new Trumpington councillor Ingrid Flaubert to their website.

The list of candidates won't be completely confirmed until nominations close at 4pm on Thursday 9 April. The official Statement of Persons Nominated (SoPN) will be published within 24 hours of the close of nominations.

I now have a full list of Green candidates for the city council elections. I understand the Greens are expecting to have a full slate of candidates in South Cambs as well.

A "big announcement" from @ZackPolanski at 1:30pm today during his visit to Cambridge. What could it be? I'll be there to find out.

In my column in today's @CambridgeIndy I take a look at the prospects for South Cambs in the local elections.

Their projection for South Cambridgeshire shows the Lib Dems retaining their towering majority, while the Conservatives are down three to five seats, with the Greens picking up two and Reform one in multi-member divisions (the map colours just show first place).

Here's another ward projection for the Cambridge local elections, this time from @poll_checker. While it doesn't exactly match my predictions, I don't think it's that far off from the likely outcome. pollcheck.co.uk/locals-2026#/c…
