After a while she tried to hand me money for bringing him home, but I told her, “I didn’t bring him back for the reward. I brought him back because he’s probably the only one left who remembers your husband’s heartbeat as well as you do.” We ended up sitting on her porch talking about her husband while the rain slowed down. And honestly, the whole thing reminded me that grief shows up in strange ways. Sometimes it’s a person feeling lost… and sometimes it’s a dog still searching for someone he loves.

A few nights ago, during a terrible thunderstorm, I spotted a golden retriever wandering near the road. He was completely soaked, shaking, and looked terrified every time thunder cracked across the sky. I pulled over and called him over carefully. The second he got close, he leaned against my legs like he was exhausted from being scared. He had a tag on his collar with a phone number, so I called it while he sat in my car with the heat on. A woman answered, already sounding emotional. I am finding some of the responses to Hannah Spencer's very serious point just baffling. Paramedics, bus drivers, nurses doctors all work late. They cannot drink alcohol whilst at work. Reeking of alcohol/being pissed is a serious disciplinary matter.

This post is so funny because like… you’ve got all these christians who supposedly care about modesty suddenly turning their brains off when it comes to tight knit tops on large breasts. Bunch of feminists. The top is inappropriate for work. Wouldn’t be for everyone but is specifically for large breasted women. You don’t have to dress like a hobo. Even putting something loose over the tight top helps (cardigan, unbuttoned buttonup). You have to be aware of your bust and silhouette and how it’s shaped by your clothes and perceived by others. I understand that’s annoying but this is the same as it being inappropriate for a man to wear sweatpants that highlight his junk. You just don’t do it when you’re trying to be modest. And work is a place to be even more modest.

The local Oxfam had “A Student’s Catullus” shelved as a children’s book. I quickly liberated it, lest it should corrupt young minds. (The previous owner liberally annotated poem 16 - and only poem 16. Can’t think why.)
