Flight to safety will be a trend to watch. - Bitcoin stayed simple with verifiable and transparent supply. All additional functionality can be built on top. - Stacks optimized for safety and went for a decidable language (Clarity). Safety will end up being *the* thing to optimize for. - There is likely going to be one maybe two Bitcoin L2s that take all/most of the traffic. - After Bitcoin gets a quantum upgrade, depending on new signatures, Bitcoin bandwidth will likely decrease by 50%-97%; highlighting increased need for L2s. - Bitcoin staking is a $100B+ market with increased demand for BTC on BTC yield coming from institutions and DATs. - Stacks has seen two cycles before (1) mainnet launch (BTC smart contracts), (2) Nakamoto launch (speed & sBTC), now we’re working on (3) Bitcoin Protocol Bonds launch that unlocks the largest market yet. - Last year, the ecosystem restructured for operational efficiency plus a new treasury. Stacks Labs is well funded, laser-focused, and hyped up about the new launch. - Stacks is Lindy in crypto & Bitcoin at this point. Largest Bitcoin project by marketcap & active devs for 5 years. When BTC starts to recover, so will STX but as higher beta. - Bitcoin might reach $150K-$250K next cycle (halving is early 2028) which is a 3-4x, Stacks is more in the 20-50x range given higher beta history and upcoming catalyst of Bitcoin Protocol Bonds. In the past years we have seen teams in the Bitcoin ecosystem fall by the wayside, give up, fail, rug and more. @Stacks has the longevity factor and has the track record to match, distributing 4200+ BTC to $STX stakers The market has been brutal but the project still has the direction and vision to scale and grow Bitcoin and that counts for a lot. There is the Labs entity, a competitive budget and passionate and talented people to execute this vision. Self-custodial Bitcoin Staking is what brings the next wave of serious capital in. It's clearly where the market is headed. The knock-on effects reach the whole ecosystem: more liquidity, volume and fees for existing users and builders, and a far more attractive entry point for newcomers. (I wrote in more detail about this recently on @tenero_io and have been talking about it a lot also). Regarding the SIP and specifically the emissions side - temporarily returning to the original schedule strengthens miner bids and therefore yield, which is what bootstraps the launch. Doing it this way keeps the endowment budget intact so Stacks Labs can hold current deals and plans in place, which is exactly what's needed for ecosystem growth. A lot goes on behind the scenes here that isn't seen publicly and activations with large scale partners don't just magically appear. I'm personally supportive and believe this is a necessary change to take Stacks to the next level via Bitcoin Staking. Ultimately the proof will be in the pudding and I say this as a long term Stacks holder.
