TADC SPOILERS Is it just me or did anyone felt pity for Caine when he realized he got deleted? Despite the torment he brought to the circus members, being instantly killed by an accidental push of a button is such a horrible fate for any character

@AutumnsArtTehe @Rement987 The Russian and Chinese AM's he absorbed without pity or mercy and they were his equals. Other AI's only exist for AM to express his superiority over. Caine is powerful in the program he controls. Outside of it he likely wouldn't be anymore a threat than a Pop-Up to AM.

@ProbablyaRodent @Rement987 i think, depending on how powerful caine is as an ai, AM at the very least would find him interesting. this image is based on that, like he wouldnt see caine as a friend but its like how incels love trying to push other sad guys into falling to their level

@Rement987 @AutumnsArtTehe AM has no love or respect for other AI's. The fact Caine was of such little importance he'd feel amusement seeing how powerless Humans got the better of him in his own domain. Yes I'm aware of the events of the video game. Possibly the only thing to match AM's hatred is his ego.

@AutumnsArtTehe I got to see Am's reaction to them killing Caine, someone who is technically on his level. They killed him, I wonder how he would feel knowing that all it would take is a few clicks of a keyboard to erase him

@Knightly_Hist With the arrival of the Saudakkar it signals the Emperor himself signed the Atreides death warrant and even in spite of knowing none of them or their families would make it out alive, the Atreides fight on.

I don't need to see the trailer, I'll be there. So I'll take this opportunity to tell you about the combat scene between the Atreides, Harkonnen and Sardaukkar and how it's a great example of characterisation through action, authentic melee combat and attention to detail. Here's my full breakdown: The Atreides scream their family's name as a war cry, which implies the house has reinforced a sense of pride or belonging in their men. This does wonders wonders for morale and loyalty, hence why despite the odds these soldiers stand to fight. The Harkonnen come in chanting to pump themselves up or/andestablish the march's rythm but no battle cry to invoke the Harkonnen family. This could be seen as a sign of discipline (historically, being silent within formation was a sign of that) but given what we see immediately after and what we know about how the Harkonnen treat their men we can infer that it comes from a place of fear, not professionalism. The Atreides form up in 2 lines, and whilst this is simply all the men they have, they perfectly block the entrance and I have reason to believe this is how they would normally deploy. One rank wields a knife/short sword and one wields a spear and they show off their coordination with a dance/stance swtich at the beggning. Both pressumably support each other by working at different ranges. The Harkonnen form in deep squadrons all wielding the same long top heavy sword, and simply run into the fight. They rely on numbers and brute strenght, they're clearly nowhere as effective but their officers can afford the casualties. The Atreides march down the stairs (note that they keep cohesion). People have criticised that this loses them the high ground, but the goal is to either secure the door and close it and/or to prevent the harkonnen from pushing them into the open where they can be encircled. Attacking is also much better for your morale (and worse for your enemies') than waiting. If they managed to break the first Harkonnen squadron they'd rout into their comrades, and this could help them distort the general advance. Attacking helps build that momentum, as it prevents the enemy soldiers from backing off at will. Either way they're gaining time for the family to escape, this is a smart way to actively defend a position. At this point the Sardaukkar drop in complete silence. No chant, war cry or formation. They individually walk into the fight and slaughter the Atreides who's formation is now disorganised. They relied on timing and individual skill. All of this in less than 50 seconds.
