Today, Governor @PudenceR and @IucnRwanda country representative chaired a high-level provincial kick off session for the 40 Million Trees Planting Initiative - An initiative that involve government institutions, security organs, development partners and communites. 🌿

Yesterday, our team led by the Director of RICA Seed Center @joemoughan met the Governor of @RwandaEast, @PudenceR alongside Mayor of @BugeseraDistr, @MutabaziRich to discuss ongoing RICA Seed Center projects and its contribution to improving farmers’ access to quality seed.

The RCCDN participated in a coordination meeting held at the Rwamagana Provincial Headquarters, which brought together Eastern governor, district officials, other stakeholders and P4FP partners. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration and coordination between the districts and P4FP, while fostering a shared vision for improving the agri-food system across the province. During the meeting, RCCDN delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement and effective coordination in supporting the adoption and scaling of RA-PURE solutions. Rwanda received the Award for Excellence in Local Leadership during the 6th edition of the International Forum on Participatory Democracy in Africa (FIDEPA) held in Dakar, Senegal. It was organized in partnership with the International Observatory for Participatory Democracy in Africa (IOPD Africa) and the Union of Local Elected Officials of Senegal. The award recognized Rwanda’s strong reforms in digitizing local service delivery and its continued commitment to citizen-centered governance. The award was received on behalf of the Ministry of Local Government, Rwanda  by H.E. Festus Bizimana, Rwanda’s Envoy to @RwandainSenegal

The @theGCF-funded #TREPAproject is driving large-scale restoration in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. So far, the TREPA has restored 44,000 ha of degraded land, reaching 73% of its target. With momentum, the project is set to deepen its impact and restore even more land by 2027.
