So, new Marathon has been released. And I was thinking, that it would be nice if the Marathon 2026 would've been for the whole Marathon series what a Doom 2016 is for a Doom series. A great return. And this fan art - for those people who wanted that return. And I'm among them.

@snom953 @ranzu312 They are not just dump a random story, they give you goal, direction to proceed, target. You are a huge part of it and by your hands most things are done. I'm skeptical that in new marathon there is a story, I assume it's just the lore of the colony, and happened events. premise

@ranzu312 @RGroph the original marathon games didnt tell the story through gameplay either. You literally would just walk up to a terminal and get a ton of text in your face practically dumping the story on you.

Oh btw! I`ve been seating on that gold for far too long. Small clip from my playthrough with a very shy robot. I think there is nothing to be ashamed of. Especially with such a big cake.

@CoyoteVandal I would be happy to be wrong, but something tells me that nothing really changed in that field. If you having fun with new marathon - great, have fun! Just be aware of what they are saying.

@RGroph you mean it'd be neat if the studio that experimented with how storytelling in an fps could have potential beyond the traditionally accepted means of it at the time of release made a cinematic singleplayer shooter like they did 30 years ago? hm.

@CoyoteVandal And usually - it ends up being something less of significance as it is promoted or just average. It always sounds like a bigger thing and a lot of imagination and expectation is built on top of it. After all these years of playing - I became very skeptical about what they say.

@CoyoteVandal During Destiny2's lifetime - I've read and heard through twabs and vidoc`s - how big or potential is one thing or another like all the time. How they are experimenting, and how the story/feature/mechanic unfolds eventually and how complicated it is.

Of course the Original trilogy is still there, fully playable and free on steam (thanks to Aleph One.) and the story is fully finished and whole thing is very self contained, but even though - let the man dream for a bit about a great return of a genuinely badass sci fi.

I found out about it not so long ago(Thanks @Lord_Mandalore - You've introduced a lot of new people to this series a few years ago) and finished a trilogy only last year-I was enchanted with it and its heritage. The whole trilogy is really something genuinely cool and mysterious
