I think this just highlights that the issue is Weir breaking the unwritten rule in Hollywood of not criticizing your peers no matter how much they deserve it

This is a weird case where he’s simultaneously punching up and down, in the sense he’s punching up being a literary author breaking into hollywood, and down in the sense that Alex Kurtzman is a fucking idiot

Never punch down. Weir should have just said he had some cool ideas for a #StarTrek show Weir is not a pundit, he’s in the industry himself. It’s totally unprofessional and inappropriate for him to say something like this. If someone doesn’t understand that, they’re just making it clear they have no professional experience.

I think Star Wars fans generally need to get better at understanding that these aren't things that really happened. Caedus and Kylo are both evil. The difference is one is a character who was a lead in 30 books before getting character assassinated and one is created as a villain

also kylo stans always think jacen's turn is same as him and we like his actions or anything meanwhile jacen never got redeemed. also he had at least 12 years of history for us to like him AND hate what they've done to him meanwhile kylo created as a villain without any history

As somebody who was there in 1999 and just starting to read film criticism, this weird “it was the CRITICS who hated the prequels!” narrative is just revisionist nonsense.
Critics were generally like, “It’s a silly, dysfunctional kids film.” Meanwhile, fans were like…

Interestingly enough for all the criticism the prequels get, choreography, fights, and battles isn’t one of them, whereas with the sequels they all age poorly with subsequent viewings because you start noticing all the cut corners and inconsistencies

Yes, I get that for a certain generation they were disappointing. To act like they're the worst cinematic abortions of all time though is really overstating the case.

It doesn't just suck. The Phantom Menace has my vote for the worst Hollywood blockbuster ever made. It's an atrocious film with incoherent plotting and terrible acting. Plus the character of Jar-Jar Binks, King of Cringe, which makes several scenes unwatchably embarrassing.
