@DanielW_Kiwi In my case I wanted to have a default behavior of the class, which was the minimum required to have cooperative communication, and consumers could override this behavior if they needed to do other things. Abstract classes were the elegant way to do this.

@LolicOnion I wonder if Unity made a good backend for Metal targeting. From what I know Apple has formally deprecated Metal and wants developers to use Metal instead.

Anyways, now that I finally actually got Unity up and running on the macbook neo, it works really well! Kinda impressive how smooth it is, even with some stuff that causes slowdown on my desktop pc

@yumikonekoEN That means you need to use a card that can perform the version 3 of secure identify and verify. That is, it's like MFA - a challenge that gets issued and you need to go to the bank's site and accept the challenge. I know Wise works for this - which is why I use it for this.

@LolicOnion I initially started replacing the sugar in my coffees with Milo - the idea being that each gram of Milo has less sugar in it than one gram of sugar. (Shocking) Then I just swapped the Milo for protein powder to cut down on the sugar even more. Still don't like coffees black.

@RazorSharpFang Im not a snob either. Protein powder in the coffee is wild. I'd chug that shit first then enjoy the coffee. Lattes are just much smoother. Could make lattes from home too but I dont have the patience

@bansama I think it's notable when other companies seem to be using AI in their promotional material. It doesn't seem like much, but positive reinforcement alongside negative reinforcement is a very effective way to guide companies to doing better.

Valve continues its streak of showing everyone how it's done. In the era of mass-produced AI slop, Valve takes their time to carefully curate with care, treating creators with respect. Other companies could learn a lot from Valve.

@StarcatTails Well, hang on. congress.gov/crs-product/LS… Courts: "human authorship is an essential part of a valid copyright claim." Authorship is actually a very low bar to reach - compiling works into a collage is authorship, so would taking functions made by AI into a working product.

So someone smarter than me may be able to shed light on this, if AI work cannot be copyrighted. When Microsoft Amazon Google, game devs and others Make most or all of their software with AI, at what point can they not copyright or patent protect their code? Also how can they enforce the terms of service on software that is written by AI since they may not actually be entitled to hold copyright or patent because of AI generated code and graphics? If the software isn’t protected because it’s AI coded does that mean it can’t be piracy if it’s taken because it has no protections?
