⚠️‼️⚠️‼️ALERT! ‼️⚠️‼️⚠️ Please give your attention to this important safety message from America, Japanese gun enthusiast friends! 🗣️👂 This is the SIG SAUER P320 🤢💩, a very dangerous and poorly made handgun, with a notorious reputation within the United States’ civilian gun market for accidental trigger activation and firing, even while completely covered by the holster! 💥🫣Very scary stuff… I have a post pinned on my account detailing why exactly this occurs 🤔📝 but to put it briefly, it is caused by parts made from low quality factories in the third-world, particularly India. 🇮🇳⚙️ In conclusion, if you see one of these in real life exercise extreme caution! ⚠️⚠️ Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded, especially when someone tells you “it’s clear”. ✋👀 Always manually inspect yourself, using your pinky to affirm that the chamber is empty, and if you can, avoid this pistol in favor of the superior Glock 19 Generation 6 ⬛️✅

I was somewhat frustrated that you seem to be dodging the deeper ethical question I’m posing directly to you. You keep saying we need to consider the risks and ethical implications and such but I’m asking you to do that right now. Let’s assume this hypothetical cure for DS and other birth defects is as safe and effective as any other approved medication. Should we pro-actively prune and prevent children from ever experiencing it?

@RedGnosis @starblind1988 @annamlulis You reached out with genuine curiosity and stated it wasn’t to offend. If I give a ‘fence-sitting answer, nothing wrong with the fact that I prefer to know if such thing exists, what would be the complications that come with it if any.

@appathfinders Pistol first, rifle second. This is the logical economic progression for the avg Brokie & learning pistol basics will translate well to rifle whereas sometimes rifle shooters don’t know proper pistol handling.

We are considering the ethical implications at this very moment. The very question was ethical by its nature. I think you give too much of a fence-sitting conclusion. It would obviously be desirable to reduce the amount of birth defects in our society if it were possible and widely available.

@RedGnosis @starblind1988 @annamlulis I think it could be seen as desirable by different people to reduce suffering however, it’s crucial to consider ethical implications and diverse experiences of individuals with disabilities. Informed choices, support and resources is a must.

@eddieblake448 @ChoochSkookum The purpose is easy to find with a simple search query. If doing this is too difficult for you I recommend ignoring space flight and resting your head on your bed and not worrying about it

Another big part of solving this puzzle was SpaceX’s revolutionary Self-Returning Rocket Booster, Falcon 9 and now Starship. Finding a way to dramatically drive down the total cost per fight is in the grand scheme just as important as any other scientific discovery which has been made for the cause. Whether you like Elon or not, cringe as he may be, the perfection of this technology is a key driver of American dominance in Space Launch capability

The distance is vast, sure, but it can be traversed relatively efficiently. You don’t have to thrust in space to move, because you already moved a shit load and raised your velocity to even get into space. The difference between LEO and the Moon is only a few tons of fuel and a few minutes of burning to reshape the orbital trajectory. HOWEVER the difference between touching down on the moon for a few hours, and LIVING on it, is massive. That’s why we haven’t returned (returning for another space walk with no realistic plan for long term colonization was not worth it). But because of the resounding success of the International Space Station mission, we now know a lot more about how to live long term, grow food, exercise, and maintain our bodies for long term colonization of the Moon, which is the next step in the Artemis Program.

This was more possible during the early 2000’s right before the 2012-2016 culture shift. Just like Crew Member Victor Glover pointed out when asked a question about representation, the true ideal here would be young black children, women, men, etc NOT NEEDING to see someone exactly like themselves to be inspired. In fact it would hypothetically be even better to be inspired by someone who doesn’t look like yourself, according to the humanist perspective. The culture which developed later which we now begrudgingly label “Woke”, focused on spotlighting failures of the humanist system too hard. The system was flawed, of course, but it was actually moving toward a point of greater unity and cohesion before the culture shift. It was not until the explosion of media pieces, public campaigns, and academic voices in law, government, and entertainment supporting punitive, retroactive social justice measures to correct for police brutality incidents, women’s comfort in online spaces (especially gaming), the Metoo movement and other similar heated cultural moments that large swathes of the pretty well indoctrinated populace started to turn and adopt increasingly reactionary views (Nativism, Manosphere, race realism, and what we could broadly call “Anti-wokeness”) To put it plainly, if we are going to move past nativism, racism, sexism, etc in favor of a humanist society, we have to not also overly praise and put on pedestal these same “marginalized” groups. There must be true belief that we are all one and that no one is special, which actually deeply conflicts with the human condition the deeper you think about it.

Reaching out with genuine curiosity, not trying to hurt or offend. If it were possible to somehow cure DS and other Biological birth defects from ever occurring, ensuring every child that would have been born this way would be born regular and completely eliminating it from occurring, would that be a desirable goal?

This is a disingenuous take, Land. When Jesus said he brings a sword and not peace he did not mean it in the literal, material sense. The idea was that Jesus’ teaching would disrupt the world and cause great struggle for his followers. John 18:36: “Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
