I don’t think there’s a more straightforward explanation than: the lads reacted by adopting the word “populism” because doing that helped them to avoid saying that the right are racist crackpots and fascists, and they wanted to lump in the left as a more extreme and crazy threat.

that’s the question isn’t it. what WILL she do? there are no youth clubs for her to attend. food, cinema tickets, any sort of third space activity is all too expensive. their parents are underpaid, saturday jobs don’t exist any more, children have truly been abandoned by the govt

BBC: “What was your screen time?” Student: “Nine hours.” BBC: “You’re gong to have a lot more time to fill. What will you do?” Student: “Stare at a wall.”

I really am afraid that the entire political/media class can power-fist “Oh wow, it turns out Johnson and Gove were just a crooked imbecile and a vicious little far right dork” up to their gall bladders. They knew this then, in 2016, and behaved like that anyway.

@sallonsax @NoJusticeMTG The french know people will take to the streets whereas our government knows if anyone gets anything, an army of Clive, 55's will ring up Jeremy Vine in abject fury.

When there was supposedly a racism crisis in the main opposition party, there were no mobs, no homes attacked and burned, no assaults, no demands for mass deportations, no talk of savages. Not very much of anything. But we still had daily panic and talk of existential crises.

An idiotic scam here, launched by the Times of London in 2011 when it declared that abuse gangs were left to run unchecked not because the cops don’t give a fuck about kids in care, but because they had been terrorised into tolerating it by Janice in HR. 15 years and counting.

These guys really have no idea how bad things are about to get. One virtue Picketty et al have is that theyre starting from what is required rather than what the tired dogma of econonmics says is possible.
Dan Neidle@DanNeidle

Thomas Piketty and a large team have just proposed a worldwide tax & economic revolution: ⦿ Cap rich-nation growth near zero ⦿ Cut work hours in half ⦿ Cut material consumption by 1/3 ⦿ 10% of GDP going into a global fund ⦿ Tax wealth to essentially end it It's potty.

A tragedy for working class people that despite right wing cranks and our horrific media outlets fighting their corner tooth and nail for fifty years, mostly while in government, they’re still oppressed by the tyranny of equality and legal protections for minorities.
