🧵 Democrats have shut down DHS 3 times in 6 months. Staffing is collapsing. Airport lines are surging. 100,000 workers haven't seen a paycheck.
This is a deliberate decision by the Left to hold American livelihoods hostage to satisfy the radical demands of their base.
Here's the reality of their political games on the ground ⬇️

Today, @TSA workers will miss their first full paycheck since the Democrat shutdown began on February 14th. Missed pay is forcing frontline DHS personnel to make tough decisions to pay the bills and put food on their tables.
Losing dedicated & experienced Transportation Security Officers doesn't just mean longer security lines today, it could mean weaker transportation security later. Democrats need to end this shutdown.

Fun Fact Friday: As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence, I want to highlight some of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Thomas Stone was a lawyer from Maryland who was elected to serve in the Continental Congress. Thomas, like the other members of the Maryland delegation, was originally sent to vote against independence. Maryland later withdrew that restriction allowing Thomas to include his name on our founding document. Shortly before signing, Stone wrote, “May God send Victory to the Arm lifted in Support of righteousness, Virtue & Freedom, and crush even to destruction the power which wantonly would trample on the rights of mankind.” Thomas Stone quietly signed the Declaration of Independence on August 2, 1776.

We are all familiar with Star, Mississippi, but I know the people of Star are especially excited to officially be recognized as Mississippi’s newest town. I look forward to working alongside the community as it continues to grow and thrive. Star is a special place with a proud heritage and is known to many as the hometown of country music star Faith Hill. Communities like Star represent the heart and spirit of Mississippi, and I am proud to represent them in Congress.

I enjoy every opportunity to meet some of our nation’s veterans. I am grateful for the American Legion Department of Mississippi and its tireless advocacy for our men and women who have served. I am also grateful for their investment in the next generation of young men and women through the Mississippi American Legion Boys State and Girls State programs. To all our veterans, I thank you for your service.

As Democrats play political games and keep the Department of Homeland Security closed, Americans are less safe. Since Democrats have cut off funding to federal law enforcement we have seen:
- Terrorist inspired shooting in Austin
- Attack on a synagogue in Michigan
- School shooting at Old Dominion University
- Cyberattack on UMMC
- Increased delays at airports across the country
This is just to name a few. It is time that the Senate Democrats put the safety of Americans ahead of partisan politics and fully fund DHS.
