@Gattungswesen25 One or two posts is whatever, but this is getting silly. I agree Hasan has a very minor grip on actual theory, but to say he's just in it for the money is actually malicious. If he actually wanted to grift, he would be a billionaire. Theory or not, he's genuine and does good.

I don't care if people hate me for this, but I regard Hasan Piker the same way I regard Vaush, Contrapoints, Hakim, Tony1Dime, etc. They're all "socialist" streamers whose aim is to make money in an attention economy. They're not educators but sophists and grifters.

@FordonUbell @evek181818 Didn't say they were synonymous, but they do imply each other. Eugenics isn't some Brave New World social program. It's society itself insofar as a standard of fitness is required to access the means of life. Ableism implies eugenics and is implied by it.

@Revan579 @evek181818 like i said… theyre not synonymous. ableism and eugenics can be and often are related but not all ableism is eugenics and not all eugenics is ableist (tho most of it is). the statement youre talking about is not eugenics, its not about selective breeding or controlling genetics

@FordonUbell @evek181818 Please think about the terms you're using. Why would a population be selectively bred? What does ableism imply?

@Revan579 @evek181818 just bc its ableist doesnt mean its eugenics. theyre not synonymous. eugenics is the control of a species genetics through methods such as selective breeding and forced sterilization.

@THFC_Prometheus @evek181818 Yes, really. A form of social exclusion is being tied to a disability, with a tone of disgust no less. Depressed people stop deserving obligations if they sufficiently inconvenience people. Others people's joy and health are valued higher by default.

@bakuvents @evek181818 I don't think it's particular to them. I think positioning disabled people as a burden, one that punishes them at the social level (e.g. "depressed people have to fix themselves before they can do/be/have x, y, z") for failing to be useful or reciprocal, is quite normal.

@Revan579 @evek181818 That’s a good point; I assumed they were probably projecting (as I clearly am), but it’s not fair to assume they weren’t just being a dick for love of the game.

@Revan579 @evek181818 I think that people should be allowed to acknowledge that their partners mental health negatively affects them. If it sounds cruel it’s probably because they’re also a victim.

@FordonUbell @evek181818 Why do you think it's not? To me, it's such obvious ableism. To be clear, I'm not talking about the relationship, I don't know anything about that—I'm talking about what was said.

@anachradaver A revolution by the "American people" would not be a revolution. The only unity here is reactionary. The best we can do is collapse and sort it out in the most horrific ways possible.

@DropSiteNews Least surprising news. Wonder how this leaked though. Makes me think that the US might end up unilaterally leaving the war or making a separate peace deal.

💢📰 REPORT | New reporting from NYT reveals how Trump decided to go to war with Iran — after a closed-door Israeli pitch and despite deep internal divisions inside his own team. At a secret Feb. 11 Situation Room meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a four-part pitch for regime change, including a video montage of potential replacement leaders such as Reza Pahlavi. JD Vance was absent, stuck in Azerbaijan. Appearing alongside Mossad chief David Barnea and military officials, Netanyahu argued: Iran’s ballistic missile program could be destroyed in weeks. The regime would be too weak to close the Strait of Hormuz. Street protests — fomented with Mossad help — could trigger an uprising. Kurdish fighters from Iraq could open a ground front in the northwest. Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” The next day, U.S. intelligence pushed back sharply. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called the regime-change scenario “farcical,” with Secretary of State Marco Rubio adding: “In other words, it’s bullshit.” Gen. Dan Caine told the president: “This is, in my experience, standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell, and their plans are not always well-developed.” Trump dismissed regime change as “their problem” — but remained focused on targeting Iran’s leadership and military. By Feb. 26, in a final Situation Room meeting, opposition inside the room was clear but fractured. Vice President JD Vance warned the war could spiral and drain U.S. resources, but ultimately said: “You know I think this is a bad idea… but I’ll support you.” Rubio said regime change was unrealistic, but destroying Iran’s missile program was achievable. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was the biggest proponent of war and backed immediate action. Military leadership outlined risks, including depleted munitions and the threat to Hormuz, but all stopped short of opposing the plan. Key officials responsible for managing the fallout, like the Treasury Secretary, and DNI Gabbard were notably absent. Trump went around the table asking advisors their view, then made the call: “I think we need to do it.” The strikes began two days later.

@Gattungswesen25 Fuck China but they also have a massive petroleum reserve and a diversified energy economy, they'll be able to hold out for some time before the worst of this hits them.

I sincerely hope that BOTH U.S. and China will get fucked over so hard because I'm so sick and tired of people of shifting their focus away from the international proletariat and the oppressed to capitalist nation-states for liberation.

@hasanthehun Making up for the shortfall would require refining throughput and export infrastructure that doesn't exist. More fundamentally though, Venezuela isn't positioned to function like the Gulf States—it's nowhere near the most affected markets.

prior to the iran war, venezuelan crude refined & exported by the US would destroy the domestic markets since the price would dip far below 60$, if the gulf productive capabilities are diminished- the us could become one of the few major exporters & command great leverage over china's export controls. this seems like the only not insane long term goal. not sure if its even remotely feasible or achievable.
