The fact is that the majority of Americans never travel outside their own country …a great country which I love ,, but they are insular and are not taught about the rest of the world , most couldn’t even put their finger on individual countries in Europe let alone the world 🤷♂️

So do Americans still think superbowl is bigger than the World Cup

Scotland used to have it all, in football terms. Had the Ballon d'Or been in operation since the formation of association football in the 1860s, and was always global, it would be a three-way race between Scotland, Brazil and Argentina for the most number of wins over the years. The likes of Nick Ross and Alex James mean little to modern supporters, but these were amongst the best players in world football in the early 20th century. But a decades-long obsession with England and a reluctance to engage with the game's growing internationalism has cost them dearly. They are the biggest underachievers in world football. 📝 @zonal_marking bit.ly/4vuWC2B

It's so funny how American fans respond to the soccer offside rule, as if our biggest sport doesn't have an entire army of 8K cameras to determine by how many half-inches the ball is a first down or not.

Whats strange about soccer: It employs absurd mathematical precision to police offsides, a rule that mostly matters in spirit rather than in strict application. (You just don't want cherrypicking) But its extremely casual about timekeeping, whose literal application matters a ton
