No formo parte del debate del deporte nacional entre fútbol y béisbol.
Como alguien que trabaja y vive gracias a ambas disciplinas, me parece un debate estéril.
Sin embargo, tanto Rey y el “team fútbol” como los defensores del béisbol olvidan puntos claves que quiero repasar:

El más importante: el béisbol no es tan pequeño ni poco practicado como creen.
Venezuela tiene CENTENARES de canchas de béisbol. Muchísimas mas que las 8 donde se juega LVBP. Cada estado tiene al menos 3-4 sitios donde se puede jugar a distintos niveles, creería yo.

@RicardoMathison Básicamente se quejan de restricciones de equipos de Grandes Ligas, en especial a Mason Miller, el cerrador de San Diego, quien, a pesar de tener un día de descanso, no estaba disponible para lanzar en el 9no inning. Dicen que Palencia, en cambio, no tuvo ese problema.

@INTLBaseball24 This is an incredibly absurd take. Japan has to thank MLB for their cakewalk schedule every WBC and now you're suggesting that is not fair with Japanese fans that they don't get to see DR/Venezuela/PR/Mexico. They should be grateful it is that way

This tournament definitely needs to see some DR/Japan and Venezuela/Japan in pool play. I understand why it is the way it is but Japanese fans have never in WBC history ever seen DR/Venezuela/PR/Mexico in Japan against Samurai Japan. It would be a nice change

Another point that I just saw from a Japanese poster is that it doesn’t help Japan to play every WBC pool game with the same exact conditions. 7 o’clock night game at Tokyo Dome versus opponents they’re used to and much better than on paper. Nothing out of their comfort zone. Not much you can really do about it because the finances and ratings of the tournament obviously warrants it but it’s beneficial for NPB players to get a chance to play outside of Japan in front of a more “hostile” crowd.

Congrats to Venezuela. But its 💩 that Puerto Rico didn’t qualify for the 2028 Olympics.

Puerto Rico might not have a WBC title. But this is just a setup so they can win the gold at the first ever Olympics with MLB players in 2028. That’s the script. I don’t make the rules.

Team Japan has won 3 of the 5 WBCs including dominating Team USA.
Team USA may have more overall TALENT but that doesn’t mean they’re a better team.
