So a VC invests in a startup. The startup loses money in a bank collapse. But instead of the VC helping the startup (they probably own it) it's the responsibility of the rest of us (via increased bank fees) to bail out the startup owned by a rich investor. What did I get wrong?

@davidclowery You're acting like Roku is the only company there. Take two minutes and look around this site. Plenty of companies couldn't make payroll. Plenty of companies kept all their money in SBV. Shit, SVB MADE a bunch of them do it.

According to last financial statement, Roku has more than 900 million in cash in other banks. They should use that 900 million to pay employees until SVB is settled. At which point they get most of their cash back. They didn't need a fed bailout but we bailed them out.

They could use the other 900 million they have in other banks. Look at the publicly available financial statements.

Rokus has 3600 employees. But apparently no risk management folks. So many semi anonymous accounts ostensibly liberal or progressive crying crocodile tears for big corps.

Again more semantics. What accounts like this are trying to do is obscure the fact, this is a fed bailout of very wealthy customers of Silicon Valley Bank. e.g. Roku which has nearly $500 million in cash sitting in SVB bank, does not qualify for FDIC insurance. Yet gets paid.
