NEW: Afroman's music video "Lemon Pound Cake" played in court as "Officer Poundcake" was forced to sit and watch. Adams County Sheriff's deputies are suing Afroman after he released a music video following a botched raid on his home. At one point during the trial, the video was played during Officer Shawn Cooley's testimony. The song was inspired after the officer allegedly glanced down at Afroman's desert during the botched raid on his home. Officers claim that Afroman's songs and social media posts following the raid caused them "mental distress and danger." (ABC6)

@AllyFogg I think the fact that Henry became a national treasure and almost part of the Establishment made it worse for them, they saw him as a dangerous race baiter but he was ultimately very popular and him getting knighted etc has obviously driven them insane

@RopesToInfinity Lenny Henry & Ian Wright, two of the most gentle, lovely national treasures you could ever imagine. Hard to escape the conclusion that those are the only four black or brown people they could think of.

One thing I've learned on here over the past fifteen years is that there's a specific generation of right-winger who carries a burning grievance against Lenny Henry that they've held for decades

It's taking guys like this so long to realise that they were never actually popular, and that they only had any power at all in an environment where cackling "lol, what are you gonna do, vote for a third party?!?!" still had some currency

Taking some enjoyment from the fact that this guy finally broke into the political mainstream right at the point where his brand of factionalism is collapsing. All this man knows is how to ratfuck in a system where Labour and the Tories are the only realistic options voters had

A kid in my school year died of meningitis in 1996 while we were doing our mock GCSEs so we all had to get jabbed. Don't remember anyone getting weirdly racist about it back then but maybe it's just that it was before social media

Yet another point about the Gorton & Denton byelection. Out of the several dozen actual conversations I had on doorsteps about issues, precisely two people mentioned issues around gay and/or trans people. Both were elderly white Reform voters. They're the only people who care.

Obvious conclusion here is that the 'Invincibles' were crap, which I've been saying for years

@LondonLabour I understand why the concept of anyone's politics getting better over time instead of just more right-wing is bewildering to you, but it can happen

@RopesToInfinity Possibly because you grew up in a country >90% white and weren't living in an area that is the main landing point for illegal boat crossings, just a hunch of course.

@RopesToInfinity You do realise that immigration in 1996 wasn’t slightly, not even remotely, comparable to the catastrophic state that it is today.

Sure, let me spend my evening sending you screenshots of tweets that I think are either openly or implicitly racist so that you, some guy, can tell me they're not, even though we both obviously have irreconcilable political views and will never agree

It's so cool how if you say you saw something racist, you will get people in your mentions seemingly determined to take the side of the person I'm saying is racist, despite not knowing who they are or what they said

@TheIndGroup What are you hoping to get out of asking this question? Do you think nobody has been racist? Do you want to waste both of our lives getting into a debate about what constitutes racism even though we fairly obviously will not agree?
