-You must be wondering why #IndianAirForce 114 MRFA program is not progressing, despite announcement. Long answer but important: -After India bought 36 Rafales, the main difficulty was not flying or operating but integrating Indian weapons & systems into a French proprietary platform -Software & interface access remained with Dassault & IAF could not freely reprogram fighter for its own missiles & mission systems -So what India is asking for in 114 Rafale deal is Interface Control Document (ICD) -This is the technical “how to connect” manual that tells Indian engineers how the fighter aircraft communicates with weapons, sensors, pods & other external systems -ICD is not the entire secret brain of the aircraft. It covers things like electrical connections, data formats, signal timing, software messaging & physical integration points. It tells you how to plug in & make things work safely -This is not source code of the aircraft -Source code is the inner software logic, while ICD is the integration blueprint -Without ICD access, every new integration depends heavily on Dassault leading to delays, higher costs & less freedom to add indigenous weapons or upgrades later -India doesn't want to be tied down to repeated French approvals every time it wants to modify the fighter -Rafale can still be bought & used without ICD, but making it fully ecosystem-friendly & future-ready would be limited -So India is not going to spend $40 billion without clarity on ICD & the ball is in #France’s court
