For almost three years now, active members of the Sudanese community across Canada have met with several Members of Parliament to raise urgent concerns about the worsening situation in Sudan and the ongoing delays in the family reunification process. Thanks to this strong community engagement, through calls, meetings, and continued advocacy, Canadas immigration pathways for Sudanese will be a topic of conversation at this morning’s Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM), presenting between 11am – 12PM EST. This is a direct result of community persistence and advocacy. It’s an important opportunity for all of us to tune in, share widely, and follow up with our MPs afterward. Our collective efforts brought us here, and sustained engagement will ensure there is action and accountability. Please join us in listening today. Link: parlvu.parl.gc.ca/Harmony/en/Pow…

Canada is appalled by findings from the United Nations Human Rights report that the RSF’s assault on El Fasher left more than 6,000 people dead in three days. These atrocities are war crimes, reflecting a pattern of grave abuses that is deepening Sudan’s humanitarian crisis. Civilians must be protected and perpetrators held accountable under international law.

On February 16, the United Nations reported that over 6,000 civilians were killed in just three days in El Fasher, Darfur, Sudan, in attacks described as war crimes and ethnic cleansing. Two Canadian-connected companies have been linked to equipment used in this conflict: 1. Sterling Cross Defense Systems — based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Rifles made by this company have been visually documented in RSF hands. 2. Streit Group — Canadian-owned with offices in Midland and Innisfil, Ontario, headquartered and producing armoured vehicles in the UAE. Streit armoured vehicles have been heavily used by the RSF, making them a major contributor to ongoing violence in Sudan. These weapons are reaching the RSF through indirect channels, often via the UAE, bypassing Canada’s arms embargo on Sudan and the Arms Trade Treaty obligations. Canadian-made rifles and vehicles are actively fueling the war and killing civilians in Sudan. Contact your representatives and demand investigations, enforcement, and accountability. #KeepEyesOnSudan #SaveSudan #SudanCrisis #Darfur #HumanRights

1000 Days of War in Sudan Today marks 1,000 days since war tore through Sudan. 1,000 days of bombing cities 1,000 days of families sleeping in fear 1,000 days of women carrying children across borders 1,000 days of hunger, loss, and silence from the world This is not a “conflict.” This is the destruction of a nation. More than half of Sudan’s population now needs humanitarian aid. Millions have been forced from their homes. Entire neighborhoods in Khartoum, Darfur, and beyond have been erased. Children who should be in school are learning how to survive war instead. As Sudanese in the diaspora, We carry the pain of this every day. We are not watching a tragedy, we are living it. To the world: Sudan is not forgotten. Sudan is not invisible. Sudan is not a headline that expired. To our people: Your suffering matters. Your lives matter. Your future still matters. We will keep speaking. We will keep organizing. We will keep demanding justice. Sudan will rise, but the world must stop looking away. #Sudan #1000DaysOfWar #KeepEyesOnSudan #SudaneseLivesMatter

The Sudanese Canadian Community Association (SCCA), with the support of the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), spent the past two days—Monday in Ottawa and Tuesday in virtual meetings—advocating for meaningful, urgent action on Sudan. Our delegation met with officials across party lines to highlight the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis and the deep impact the conflict continues to have on Sudanese Canadians and their families. Special thanks to the MPs and officials who met with us: @KayabagaArielle , @Rob_Oliphant , @coteau , @SalmaZahid15 , @iamIqraKhalid , @SameerZuberi, @ElizabethMay, @RunChiNguyenRun, @ScottReidCPC, @JennyKwanBC, @garnettgenius, @AmiraElghawaby, @taleeb and @kbardeesy — your time, leadership, and commitment are truly appreciated. Our key asks: 1️⃣ Increased funding to trusted humanitarian partners on the ground in Sudan to address the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. 2️⃣ Re-prioritization of Sudanese refugee and family reunification pathways, addressing devastating delays that continue to put lives at risk. 3️⃣ Urgent action to stop the flow of Canadian-manufactured weapons that continue to appear in the hands of actors committing atrocities. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations and working alongside federal partners to meaningfully support Sudanese Canadians and all families deeply affected by this war. #Sudan #SudanCrisis #SudaneseCanadian #CdnPoli #HumanitarianRelief #RefugeeProtection #StopTheWarInSudan
