(boiling water in a 500ml or 1L conical flask, then ignite the Mg ribbon and hold in the water vapour emitting from the mouth of the flask! (it's really reacting with the water vapour). Peter H^

9 years ago I made youtu.be/LwwmRP8Zpaw @CLEAPSS; the electrolysis of molten salts. I used an iron nail as the +ve electrode but our technician, Charlotte suggested a welding rod. Lead on its surface can be used as a pencil! @SFEd_RSC @RSC_EiC #ASEChat @ChemEdX @SciInSchool
