Hot weather is here, and it doesn’t take long for conditions to turn dangerous. As temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat-related illness. Take simple steps to protect yourself and others: ☀️ Stay hydrated ☀️ Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day ☀️ Wear light clothing and take breaks in the shade ☀️ Never leave children or pets in a vehicle—even for a minute ☀️ Check on neighbors, especially older adults Heat can impact anyone. Stay cool. Stay safe. #CALFIRE #HeatSafety #StayHydrated #PublicSafety

Some people head to beaches to cool off during hot weather. Be aware that ocean water is extremely cold and strong currents are common. Stay back from the waterline, never turn your back on the ocean, and swim only where lifeguards are present. Swimming at Ocean Beach is never safe - stay out of the water unless you are an experienced surfer or swimmer. ➡️ sf-fire.org/safety-resourc…

We're fortunate to have close access to the Pacific coastline during an extended heatwave like the one that sets in today, and will go through at least Friday. But remember, the water is still COLD! Cold water shock is a very real threat. Be careful and stay safe this week. #CAwx

HSH is activating a Hot Weather Protocol from March 17–20 due to forecasted high temperatures. SFHOT will increase wellness checks, share weather and shelter information, and distribute supplies to help people stay safe. More info: sf.gov/inclement-weat…

A reminder from #SFFDK9XORO If you are visiting our Coastline this week to beat the heat or anytime, please watch your pet closely and adhere to leash and access rules when applicable. If your pet goes into the surf or off a cliff, DO NOT go into the surf or over the cliff; call 911. Most of the time, we rescue the human companion (you) while the pet watches with us on shore. K9-Xoro and all of us at #YOURSFFD want you to have a safe and pawfect time. Here are a few more safety tips for you to review: sf-fire.org/safety-resourc… #YOURSFFD @GGNRANPSAlerts

Swimming in the ocean is very different from swimming in a pool. Rip currents and hazardous waves can catch anyone off guard. Whether you're a strong swimmer or just splashing around, know how to stay safe in changing conditions: weather.gov/safety/beach #SpringBreak2026
