I've realised that I'm a Flat Tax Fundamentalist.
Flat Taxes are a social good. If you earn more you'll still pay more in absolute terms but without the disincentives.
Arguments against flat taxes are usually "poor people pay more tax" but they don't. Proportionally they pay the same, but importantly there's no disincentive for them to do extra work to earn more. Deciding to earn less is a choice.
Another argument against flat taxes is "rich people should pay more to avoid social unrest because it's fairer" but this has been proven in recent studies to be bullshit handwaving based on motivated reasoning.
There's nothing fair about paying a higher rate because you earn more, quite the opposite, but we've been propagandised into believing it.
It would be interesting to see what changes would be needed in UK state spending to allow for a flat tax rate of, say 25%, in the UK.

Serious question: Has the UK ever considered a flat tax regime? I did some noodling on ChatGPT and by abolishing the personal allowance, a flat tax rate of 20% would see a moderate increase in tax revenues. I'm guessing you'd also see a big increase in compliance because it's simpler.

Most Starlink airlines give access to their customers for free. He’s probably right that RyanAir customers don’t want to pay for add ons, but I think they would get increased bookings that more than made up for the cost of outfitting the planes. Ultimately they are a low cost airline that has built their brand around saying no to frills, but eventually I predict they will eventually adopt starlink anyway.
