Serious question: Has the UK ever considered a flat tax regime? I did some noodling on ChatGPT and by abolishing the personal allowance, a flat tax rate of 20% would see a moderate increase in tax revenues. I'm guessing you'd also see a big increase in compliance because it's simpler.
