I did think that he could've done better in acknowledging the reality - that many Labour voters nowadays are young professionals. Felt like he was pitching the party at the Labour of old (80s, 90s). Whether that works remains to be seen. Happy to be wrong! Gd luck.

If I had to sum up the @andyburnham speech... that was a pitch aimed at CLP members, without (unless I missed it) acknowledging members at all. In the spirit of "unity", it was good to hear Andy talking up the record of KS. And of Labour being confident at expressing our ideas.

The disconnect with ordinary Labour members and the senior leadership was one of the reasons we lost a chunk of members during Starmers premiership, but I feel like we've had the middle finger stuck up to us since the Burnham transition began.

BREAKING: The government has approved Nottingham City Council's plan for local government reorganisation. Parts of Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe will now become part of a bigger city authority. Official government announcement expected at 11am.
