日本で神社仏閣の火事が相次いでいますが、
世界に衝撃を与えたのは、2019年の4月に起きたノートルダム大聖堂の火災でした。
火災原因は不明ながらも、あるアンケート結果からは、フランス人の半数以上は事故という認識です。
しかし、本当のところはどうなのか。
日本の神社仏閣が相次いで火災に遭う原因を突き止める手がかりになるかもしれません。

そもそも体験をスコア化するのがナンセンスだと思う。
留学した、美術館に行った、ボランティアをした、みたいな「分かりやすく立派そうな体験」を積めば人間が豊かになるわけでもない。
大事なのは、その体験から何を感じて、何を考えて、何を得たか。県大会一回戦負けでも、変な弁当でも、近所のじいちゃんとの会話でも、その人にとって人生を変える体験になることは普通にある。
「これは良い体験です」みたいなテンプレを作って、みんなが同じ体験を目指すようになったら、むしろ人間の多様性はなくなると思う。
体験って履歴書に書けるイベント名じゃなくて、周囲の環境がその人の中でどう意味を持ったかなんだよね。

I was $35,000 in debt.
Starting over with a broken mower, a rusted trailer, and $24 to my name.
That $24 went into printing flyers.
My wife and I walked the streets for days, stuffing letterboxes and hoping the phone would ring.
It did.
Work started to trickle in. Slowly.
Then one morning, both my mower and brush cutter broke down.
And because it was the middle of the Australian summer, almost every shop was closed.
I finally found one open. It was packed.
The salesman was rushed. Quoted me, rang it up, took my payment.
I loaded up the gear, walked out to the car and noticed something.
He’d undercharged me.
By $100.
Every argument ran through my head:
The sale was final.
I’d never be back.
They could afford it.
I needed the money more than they did.
But I couldn’t shake it.
If I were going to succeed, it couldn’t be built on a dishonest win.
So I drove back. Handed over the $100.
That same afternoon, a client I barely knew offered to print flyers for me, out of the blue.
He picked the value.
It was almost exactly $100.
That moment stayed with me.
Not because of the money.
But because it reminded me that character is the real foundation of success.
If you cut corners when no one’s looking, you don’t just short-change others.
You short-change yourself.
