🇺🇸 SpaceX went shopping and came back with Silicon Valley's favorite app SpaceX just pulled the trigger on Cursor, the AI coding tool half of Silicon Valley already runs on, for 60 billion dollars in an all-stock deal filed with the SEC today. It's the biggest buyout of a venture-backed startup anyone's ever seen, and Elon is paying with SpaceX paper that climbed 20% yesterday and opened even higher today, so the bill more or less prints itself. Cursor pulled in 3.38 billion since 2022 from the usual heavyweights, a16z, Nvidia, Coatue, even OpenAI's own fund, and now it slots into the same orbit as xAI and Grok, which is exactly the enterprise AI empire Elon has been stacking one piece at a time. Here's the part that stings, FTX's Alameda dropped 200,000 dollars into Cursor early on, then trustees sold the stake back at cost during the bankruptcy, a slice that would be worth billions today, gone for the price of a parking spot. Say what you want about the man, the people betting against Elon keep ending up on the wrong side of the trade. Source: Axios / Writer: Daniyal
