The better I get at Japanese, the more I see that in order to get truly good at a language, you have to bake your studying into your normal daily activities. It's not something you set time aside for. It's something you do naturally. wake up -> study flashcards brush teeth -> listen to grammar lessons do chores/drive -> listen to podcast walk on treadmill -> watch TV shows eat lunch -> watch TV shows while watching youtube videos -> write kanji/make new flashcards If you work like this, it is very easy to hit the 2-3 hour daily study requirement to progress in the language. The only things I really have to go out of my way to do are schedule speaking time with natives and read. Everything else is just done while I am doing my normal routine.
