@vampahri yeahhh I probably just haven’t read enough papers / wasn’t paying as much attention cause em dashes read pretty easy. The AI thing that kills me is the “it’s not x, that’s y”. I swear nooooo one types like that.

@SamIsDual maybe it depends on the person/field, but i’ve seen and used em dashes liberally in both undergrad and law school! i’ll use it in tweets if im being serious, which is also the context i usually see them in
