@SamaraFlor35458 Caine's entire thing is about the fear of failure and being abandoned for it. For his arc to actually hit, we need to see characters being messy and not being abandoned for it (Not just jax lmfaoooo)

I think one ramification of tadc not allowing all the characters to be and stay messy creates the issue we're seeing with Caine & Jax where people are trying to find the singular character at fault instead of being like these two characters in one room is a cocktail for disaster

It's because Jax literally has ZERO association with Kinger, so he doesn't even think about him at all. If you watch the show Jax is the only character Kinger never has a 1 on 1 or intimate moment with, and they are never seen talking to eachother. There's no connection.

Since we've all basically agreed that the locked door is a what if pomni abstracted thing I wonder if the reason kinger doesn't have a door is because since he's been in the circus the longest Jax just assumes he can't abstract so he doesn't even think about it

@astro_v4mp ANDD it doesn’t take a whole other episode for Charolette to confront him, she immediately catches him and tells him to fuck off or she will kill him. Bojack’s actions are never excused, even if the girl was “legal.” He was a groomer and we never forget that.

Also, Bojack canonically grooms a 17 year old girl and is stopped just before he’s able to asssilt her in an attempt to live out a fantasy abt dating her mother. Hazbin can’t call Valentino a rapist.

whenever a villian protagonist doesn't work fans try to defend em like "you would never be able to handle BrBa or Bojack Horseman" and it just doesn't work because those shows and MC are well written, if anything watching those show make you realize how garbage is your blorbo.

@swan2swan87 @astro_v4mp If Goose really wanted to explore her characters and the world around it, she’d have made TADC at least 12 episodes. Any less allowed a lot of necessary things cut, even simple interactions that sadly get branded as filler

Like Bojack handles its ensemble cast WAY better than TADC. Theres entire episodes where Bojack isn’t there and there’s like a half season purely abt the characters doing things without him.

@iamnotcrys The same could be said for Breaking Bad. Walter gets confronted by almost every single character he encounters (such as his family). However, Jax and Walter aren’t comparable because Jax isn’t like, that bad lol

@iamnotcrys I’ve seen only two seasons of bojack and the narrative never coddled or tried to excuse his actions. Also, charactersstayed mad at him and straight up cut him off, while telling him he’s an asshole. Jax and Bojack cannot be compared because one is well written and the other isn’t

in bojack everyone knows bojack is an asshole and must atone for his actions because not everyone is scared to say it to his face . TADC is like if bojack was transported to equestria and all the ponies have to deal with his verbal abuse until he ODs or something 😭😭

@AthanTheGuy Yeah idk why Jax defenders keep comparing him to real people to make us feel bad. It's a way to guilt trip us into thinking that us simply disliking jax is some sort of grave sin. The fact that he isn't real makes all this discourse fun and interesting

I guess the discourse also just reminds me of the fact that when you're deemed a bad person you don't get to be human anymore. You're stripped of your person hood, because having nuance is seen as justifying that behavior. This has been weaponized for copaganda btw.

Ragatha has every right to assume and the show paints her assumptions as wrong, making us think that there is more to Jax than what meets the eye. But there really isn’t since Ragatha was correct and had every right to be wary about Jax

Honestly! Thing is, this would've been such an interesting storyline IF JAX DID NOTHING. The fact that Ragatha is right all along and is completely justified in 95% of her actions makes rewatching TADC so unsettling when it comes to Jax's character.

It's because the script desperately wants the audience to sympathize with Jax, but at the same time doesn't want to make it too obvious. So it has the characters react to Jax, but it's immediately cut off with the argument of "keeping the peace." This scene is symptomatic of that
