Does anyone have any good data on whether restaurant rewards actually drive higher sales? I know most restaurants claim visits are higher with rewards members, but I question whether that is correlation or causation. @jonathanmaze or @McFranchisee ?

@SameStoreGuy IMO - no. Need to be all in or all out. Then you fall into a subway issue. You setup customers to be frustrated

@SameStoreGuy @jonathanmaze @McFranchisee I tracked it in my restaurant and with certain segments it increased sales by 17%. It also helped me identify my best customers and focus my marketing to add more people that were like them.

Thanks. My issue is that I have seen the former data, but I’m skeptical. If the typical rewards customer is like me, I join rewards for places that I already visit a lot (because why not) If I’m not a heavy user, I don’t join rewards. I don’t want the extra app, etc for non-frequent use …

@SameStoreGuy @McFranchisee Rewards members have been shown to visit more and spend more. But you can argue that it takes away from broader marketing, which hurts non rewards sales. But I’ve not seen data on the latter.

Fair bud but It’s hard to fix and fly a plane. I can count on one hand multiple unit zees who have successfully bought brands and run them successfully. Speaking as a partner in a top 10 multi unit franchisee group with experience buying brands. It’s a different sport. Anil, Dharods, Anand Gala, and Guillermo P are the exception to the norm but verdicts are still out on their long term success.
