Palestinians in Gaza are living what they describe as a humiliating existence. HELP: chuffed.org/project/113222… Bathrooms - if they even exist - are not suitable even for animals, as this woman explains. There is no dignity. No privacy. Families have lost everything, including the basic human right to use a toilet in safety. In displacement camps, hundreds of people share makeshift latrines that overflow with waste, spread disease, and strip people of their humanity. Women and children are especially vulnerable - forced to wait in long lines or relieve themselves in unsafe, exposed conditions. On March 8th, The Sameer Project installed 2 SATO toilets in Al-Israa Camp, Gaza City, connected to a public drainage network. This project helps correct the ratio of toilet users per facility and reduces the spread of disease in overcrowded camps. The total cost including the toilets, plumber installation, pipes, supplies, and labor was $1,760 after 11% commission. Toilets shouldn't be a luxury. This is what genocide looks like - stripping people of their dignity, one basic need at a time.
