But most of the goods entering are commercial products ordered by merchants and sold in markets - not free humanitarian aid distributions. Enduring the unbearable: this is life in Gaza right now. Small fires burn indoors just to cook a meal, filling crowded rooms with smoke that has nowhere to go. Dirty water collects with nowhere to dispose of it safely. Keeping anything clean has become nearly impossible. Disease spreads quickly through overcrowded shelters where injuries, chronic illnesses, exhaustion, and hunger all compound one another every single day. Diapers are scarce, expensive, and impossible for many parents to consistently afford while trying to survive displacement, hunger, and the collapse of medical care. HELP: chuffed.org/project/113327… In Gaza, even the most basic necessities have become out of reach for families caring for sick and injured children. Inside Rafat Alareer Camp, many babies and children live with congenital disorders, chronic illnesses, injuries, physical disabilities, or cognitive conditions that require extra support with personal hygiene and daily care. Without diapers, children are left in discomfort and at risk of skin infections and other medical complications, while parents carry the constant stress of not being able to provide something so essential for their child’s dignity and wellbeing. On April 28, a diaper distributions was carried out for 23 children in Rafat Al-Areer Camp, providing 59 packs of diapers to families in need. Two additional individual medical cases outside the camp also benefited from support. The total cost after 11% commission was $212. Sometimes relief is not complicated. Sometimes it is simply helping a parent keep their child clean, comfortable, and cared for in the middle of impossible circumstances. Issam was critically injured during the genocide. HELP: chuffed.org/project/help-u… Severe tendon damage left one of his legs 7 centimeters shorter, turning every step into pain and exhaustion. Yet like so many providers in Gaza, he is still expected to stand for hours in overcrowded lines just to try to bring bread home to his family. The pushing, the waiting, the uncertainty of leaving empty-handed - all while dealing with an injury that changed his life. This is why The Sameer Project opened a bakery in North Gaza: to create dignified bread distributions inside the camps themselves, so families do not have to risk their safety, strength, or mental and emotional health just to eat. On April 24, the bakery produced 2,830 loaves of bread - 283 bundles distributed to displaced families across the camps. On this day, the bakery cost totaled $742 after 11% banking fees, with each bundle costing you through your donations not even $3 to produce. This included flour, oil, yeast, sugar, salt, packaging, rent, electricity, and workers’ wages that keep the bakery operating every single day. The daily average for a worker in Gaza is $3 to $10 and with inflated prices due to barely any trucks coming in that barely provides anything. Many people have ZERO income and have been in this state for years. In 1886 in Chicago, US, people were killed trying to defend their rights but today Palestinians don’t only fight for their right to work and earn adequate wages, we fight for liberation, we fight for our land. Injured during the genocide, she now struggles to walk and depends on her elderly mother to care for her and push her through their camp in a breaking wheelchair. For so many families in Gaza, chronic illness has become another impossible burden layered on top of displacement, hunger, and destruction. HELP: chuffed.org/project/136892… Patients living with heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, and other long-term conditions are being forced to go without consistent treatment as hospitals collapse, pharmacies empty, and the cost of medicine becomes unreachable…most unavailable! Missing even a few days of medication can become life-threatening. Blood sugar rises unchecked. Blood pressure spikes. Heart conditions worsen. Simple follow-up care and monitoring that once kept people stable are now almost impossible to access inside overcrowded camps. The Sameer Project has launched a mobile Medical Day campaign dedicated to supporting chronically ill patients in Gaza. Through these treatment and awareness sessions, we aim to reach 10 displacement camps over the course of 2 weeks and provide families with a month’s supply of essential medications and guidance to help them manage their conditions during this crisis. Each medical day costs approximately $470 to operate, in addition to the thousands of dollars worth of medications currently stocked in our warehouse that we are using due to this health crisis.
