I think it's clear for all to see that @StreathamSYCT 's recent decisions have not led to any kind of community benefit in the Vale; quite the opposite, in fact. A sobering and sad picture.

A soulless, empty Hut in Streatham Vale Park today - this space used to be filled with children, toys, snacks & activities. Now, hardly any attendees at stay & play paid for by @BH_StartForLife - more evidence of @StreathamSYCT not making good use of a @lambeth_council building

Sprigs kids were always out in all weathers, but to see the nursery completely empty on a gorgeous May morning such as this is particularly upsetting. This sight will be the norm if @StreathamSYCT keeps full control of the space as it has now.

‘Blue plaque honours adventure playgrounds pioneer’ - @BBCNews bbc.com/news/articles/… A blue plaque dedicated to Marjory Allen, Lady Allen of Hurtwood, has been unveiled at her former south-west London home. Lady Allen was known for creating adventure playgrounds for children in London in the 1950s. @EnglishHeritage said she was also a "pioneering landscape architect, and a tireless campaigner for child welfare". In the 1950s, Lady Allen had been inspired by a playground she viewed in a housing estate in Copenhagen and brought the idea to the UK. With her mantra "better a broken bone than a broken spirit", she helped create a playground on a former bombsite in Notting Hill and another at Lollard Street, Lambeth. Lady Allen coined the term "adventure playgrounds" to describe the spaces and with the London Adventure Playgrounds Association went on to create 61 adventure playgrounds in the capital. Let’s bring back the good old plays! Decisions have been taken by the SYCT board on behalf of the community with no prior engagement with the community. This does not follow evidence-based good practice for asset-based community development and breaks the fundamental contract of "no decision about me without me".
