Raising a sword aloft and yelling "I HAVE THE POWER" is undeniably cool though. And they do it justice in the movie, which is a lot of fun.

"Masters of the Universe" bombed so hard that Hollywood executives are starting to realize the '70s and '80s were so long ago that those who remember them are ... OLD! This has caused a radical reassessment of industry priorities, according to The Wrap. thewrap.com/creative-conte…

@nightwriter22 If Hardy doesn't return, I've always thought Liam Hemsworth would be perfect for Max.

The Mad Max franchise’s future is in flux but not dead. George Miller clearly still has gas in the tank.
He’s actively shopping one final Mad Max film, likely Mad Max: The Wasteland, a prequel set in the year before Fury Road and focused on Max. The big question is who will play Max. Tom Hardy has been skeptical about returning.
Warner Bros. has passed, but other studios like Sony, Universal, and Amazon MGM are interested. Miller has a script ready and has long wanted to continue the saga, but Hardy might not make a comeback.
There was well-documented tension between Hardy, Miller, and Charlize Theron during Fury Road production, so a recast seems likely. Garrett Hedlund could be an interesting option, perhaps.

@PulpLibrarian Swap the Triffids for zombies and you've got 28 Days Later, more or less.

The Day Of The Triffids (1981). John Wyndham's "cosy catastrophe" gets a gritty Cold War survivalist style production by the BBC.
John Duttine is the stoic everyman hero Bill, with the grim task of surviving in a devastated world. Emma Relph and Maurice Colbourne give powerful performances as Jo Playton and Jack Coker respectively, and they come to very different conclusions about the duty towards the blinded population and the necessity of long term survival.
The Triffids in this are nice and chilling: it's hard to make a plant seem terrifying, but with their rattling hissing sound they gave many viewers nightmares.

I think I need to just get off of all social media. I can't unsee this headline.

@orsonscottcard We're social animals. The world is largely meaningless for us without interaction with other sentient creatures. What good is the garden without any animals in it? The problem with writing is it so often demands you be alone.

@extrascastings I did a bit of extra work on a Marvel film some years ago now, sorted through the Casting Collective, and it was great fun.

@empiremagazine My favourite scene is the rescue of Lois Lane from the helicopter crash atop the Daily Planet in Superman The Movie. “You’ve got me, who’s got you?”

@JosephKahn They could insist on releasing it on disc before streaming. Maybe make it a boutique release first and, if demand is there, print more. Truth is a lot of people are willing to wait a few years to see most movies, unless it's a cultural phenomenon or demands a big screen.
English

The solution to the theatrical problem is very simple. Extend the time before it goes to streaming. Make it 180 days. 6 months. If you don't watch it in theaters you won't get to see it for a long time. Studios have devalued their product by letting the consumer know there's no urgency. They're going to see it for "free" later. They've cheapened the business into a buffet and violated basic supply and demand.

@MrNate0 @TheCinesthetic Last night I watched, for the first time, a movie that was made in 1979.

Katniss killing Coin instead of Snow is an unexpected twist in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015) that hits so suddenly it makes you pause for a second.
