A new study, led by @UofGlasgow’s Prof @WillStewNeuro, has revealed differences in the brains of paediatric and adult patients that might explain the sometimes catastrophic outcomes seen in children following TBI. @JosieNeuro Read the full study ⬇️ jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

We are heartbroken to announce that Prof (Stephen) Ben Walsh, died peacefully on 30th Sept while surrounded by family & friends. Both his family & @RenalUCL are raising funds to find a way to honour his memory and achievements. More info below: justgiving.com/page/in-memory… Ben's passion for science & medicine was an integral part of who he was. And after self-diagnosing with lung cancer 18 months ago, he decided keep his condition private to protect his clinical and academic work. Remarkably Ben continued to work throughout his illness, right to the very end, ensuring that his students, colleagues and patients were taken care of, and that all he had built would continue on. There are no words to really express the profound sadness we feel, the loss of a dear friend, colleague and mentor. He will leave a very large hole in our lives and he will not be forgotten. Details of funeral/memorial services will be made available in due course. We're also requesting anyone with pictures or videos of Ben to upload these to the Google Photos or Dropbox links below. We've also attached a link to a Google Doc for messages of condolence you may wish to leave for the family. I was reading 2023 Nobel laureate Katalin Kariko's book, Breaking Through. She was brutally honest about the academic system in US. And, here is an example section from her book.

💡Quiz question (or contribution to article/presentation for #HUPO2024 congress ☺️): ❓Which biomarkers are applied in clinical diagnostics AND originally discovered by proteomics technologies? Point out biomarkers that I don't know yet and I'll mention you in acknowledgments.

Bye dad. You always put your head in the sand as long as you could-why change something when not needed? NOT this time: diagnosis on Friday, gone on Monday. Don’t worry I will always make sure there is a Belgian “tripel” beer and a glass of good red wine available.

Despite South Asian and Black people developing diabetes earlier with similar or greater dysglycemia, weight and blood pressure differences were still greater in younger individuals, women, and White people at diagnosis. Link: link.springer.com/article/10.100… @MetaMedTeam #MVLS_EDI
