If there’s one thing I’ve held to through my life, it’s that no learning is ever useless or wasted. Learning for its own sake is meaningful and rewarding; it doesn’t have to serve a purpose, or fit a grand scheme. It can just be to satisfy our curiosity. It’s what makes us human.

@Portaspeciosa He is, though, in the intro to one of the films where he drops all the weapons he’s surrendering on Caesar’s foot!

Don’t remember him in the authentic Gaulois histories as narrated by Asterix.

Curiously industrial church in the 14th Arrondissement in Paris. Built in the late 1890s it’s quite different to any purpose built church that I have seen in the U.K.

@rachkmc Totally agree! Not read it quite as many times as you (!), and haven’t done so for many years, and decided a few days ago to re-read it this winter.

@Crohnoid Think this one was only available in the US, but it clearly beats all-comers…

The lady who brought a treasured scientific book into #TheRepairShop mentioned "crazy experiments when she was a child". Brought back memories of my own childhood. We used to make our own explosives. Think that would be frowned upon today or we'd be arrested! #Freedom #NoInternet

@CL_Meadows Wiz is now in planning stage: 1) lull them into a false sense of security (until the treats start coming) 2) (immediately after 1) Return to usual self

My dad and his partner Mandy are coming down from Hull tomorrow and staying for a week. Mandy is very much looking forward to meeting the dog. Me: have you told her how much of a knob he is? Dad: yes.

Today’s task involves sorting out a new 2026 Northumberland calendar for a long-term client. Currently stuck on the best option for October :)

@clark_aviation @RAF_Cosford Air Days, as well. RNAS Yeovilton used to hold an annual air day. Planes and displays from all the services, and many from abroad. Went every year as a kid. But hasn’t been held for several years now, and unlikely to ever restart.

Trev Clark's Obscure Aviation History 🚁
Remember when all RAF Stations held open days, to aid recruitment and to bond with the neighbours? Sadly, with exception of a single 'pay to enter' airshow at @RAF_Cosford, these are consigned to ancient history. This was RAF Pembroke Dock in 1938 and the brand new Sunderland!
