I voted against it three times. This “rural growth” bill (SB 1696) is being misrepresented by News9. The bill redistributes taxpayer dollars to pay outsiders to move here. News 9 calls them “perks,” but they’re subsidies. OK tax dollars fund it. Nonprofits control the money. Outsiders get benefits, not Oklahomans. It does nothing to fix the real economy Growth doesn’t come from government picking winners and engineering population movement. If we want rural Oklahoma to grow we need to: -Stop handing out checks. -Start cutting taxes, removing regulations, and letting people build thru the free market. This bill misses the problem entirely.
